A land of myths and mountains, Uttarakhand holds a special place in our hearts, and we're thrilled to introduce a new IP for the region: Igaas - Mountain Fest. The festival is a culmination of everything we believe in and stand for. Culture, culture and culture. From performances by local pahadi artists, literature panels, and traditional food, to immersive experiences like Aipan art workshops and Bugyal-inspired photo booths; on the side of some impeccable music by pahadi superstars including, Amit Sagar, Narendra Singh Negi, Nikhil Saklani, Pandava's, Kamla Devi, and Inder Arya. The music will indeed echo in the soft and serene mountain air of Dehradun on the 22nd and 23rd of November. Igaas - Mountain Fest is going to be festooned with the strokes of some unexplored and underrated pahadi traditions and lore. Local is indeed the new global, and there's no place like India to celebrate the beauty of the local. As a brand that has fostered deep connections in the hidden corners of this country, we are truly excited about this new initiative. P.S. A dedication I’ve been meaning to write is finally here, and I am overjoyed to introduce you all to the joy-spreader himself, our very own Jaideep Banerjee. Fondly known as Joy, he’s truly the softest rock of Red FM. Joy has this rare ability to get things done with genuine warmth and respect, never raising his voice at anyone, ever. A seasoned veteran in the media industry, he’s a well-known voice—quite literally. If you’ve heard an ad on air, chances are it’s him, whether in English, Bangla or even in various programming voice-overs, all delivered in his signature crisp and “prim and proper” style. His love for VOs runs so deep that if it were up to him, he’d still be working on his own show, just like old times. Wasn’t it called the Apollo Alazor show, Joy? Correct me if I’m wrong! He joined Red FM in the craziest of circumstances, diving headfirst into back-to-back events with barely a moment to catch his breath. From Poila Boithak and Guts and Glory to Teen Rang Tawang, he was whisked away into a whirlwind of activities so much so that six months in, he humorously called to say, 'I think my induction is finally done!' Joy has a remarkable eye for talent, giving everyone a fair shot. For him, there’s no “team-team”; everyone has a place, and everyone deserves a chance to shine. And he’s got his quirks, too. He’s the kind of person who’ll crack a joke without waiting to see if anyone laughs—though his infectious laughter soon fills the room. And those selfies he takes - neck up, reminiscent of R. Madhavan - are classic. Despite his confidence, Joy is as humble as they come. His greatest joys are found in the little things, like sharing stories about his daughter’s move to Mumbai, speaking of her with boundless love and pride. In nearly three decades of me knowing Jaideep, I can truly say there’s no one quite like him. And after spending many years in radio at competing stations like Radio City, Fever, and Friends FM, we’re proud that he’s now one of us. Here’s to hoping Joy is here to stay at Red FM, no longer switching gears but steering steadily forward, bringing his unique laughter and boundless charm along for the ride.
