  • 'You must not go outside. What will you do after studying so much? You must learn household work as you will get married. While, boys can marry whoever they want. Girls are forcibly married', these were the key messages shared by girls during the 'Understanding Gender' workshop at the village school 🙌 35 students participated at this workshop. While, ideating the gender story, a discourse was created how social context has changed in a way that's very gendered. Despite, education, work, women are expected to take care of the household and money -finances is expected to be dealt by the men in the family. We took an example from the students where they were asked their subject choices after 10th grade. A male student said his choice will be Mathematics and female student said her choice will be home science. This is what gender is all about that affects the subject choices as well and it becomes all the more important to have these conversations in school 🌻 The intention of these conversations in the classrooms in India is that these gendered barriers can identified, they can then be challenges especially by girls so, that they can pursue their dreams 💛 #girlsrights #girlsleadership #genderbarriers #education #gendersensitiveclassrooms #genderequity

  • We are SO glad to share that our core team members, Sarla ji and Virendra Singh ji had distributed winter clothes last month to people in need in the village. There have been harsh winters so, we collected winter clothes that have been donated to help people feel warm 💛 A BIG thank you to the very kind people who donated the winter clothes as part of the Winter collection drive 🙏 We are also so glad to share that in the community space we live in, we found a winter clothes donation box so, that people in need can feel warm in these winters. It is these community initiatives that portray compassion in action. #wintercollection #compassioninaction

  • We are SO glad to share that our co-founder, Mona Yadav finished 2 weeks of feeding dogs here in Aligarh - Atrauli as part of the 'Compassion For Animals' initiative 🥳 From the moment, she reached the Aligarh station, sge began feeding dogs and speaking to the street vendors to take care of the dogs by feeding them and not hurting them. As these are harsh winters, we need to give our indie dogs the community care they deserve 💛 It was a happy surprise to find so many puppies in a new village where we went for work. Fed them and spoke to the kids there to give the dogs warm milk as we need to give them regular care and support🌻 We met, pet, fed so many indie dogs in villages, marketplaces and residential spaces and they deserve so much love. What was so special was that Mona could explore and find a way to regularly feed a dog momma and her puppies in the community space. With this, we complete a month of regularly feeding indie dogs in Delhi, Aligarh and Atrauli ✌ #compassionforanimals #feedingindiedogs #streetdogsofindia #kindnessmatters

  • Wohoo! We took girls who are part of the Sahasi girls program out for a day trip to experience, 'Numaish' - Mela, a local festival organized in Atrauli 🥳 It was heartwarming to see the joy girls experienced as we headed out from the village, girls enjoying their car journey to getting on the adventure rides 💛 They relished the street food and bought things they like from the local market. A fun-filled and heartfelt day for all of us ❤ Cheers to our girls on their first day trip 👏 #girlsrights #girlsleadership #genderequity
