Recently the 16th anniversary celebration of the Sahodari Foundation organization (www.sahodari.org) was held at a beautiful farmhouse near Kollengode in Kerala. A wonderful meeting was held with friends, my students and new generation of social activists who have been working in the organization for a long time. Poetry readings, talks, beneficiary memoirs, fabulous food cooked by our proud transgender chef Yasmin, games, Mohiniyattam dance lessons, painting session, physical and mental wellness sessions were held and it was an unforgettable union of the community for three days. We don't believe in organizing grand stage programs for our 16th anniversary. We know what the community wants and needs. It's always 'Community First' for us. These beautiful 3 days will remind as a lifelong sweet memory and the next step to wellness and friendship for all at Sahodari Foundation ❤️. Are you interested in being a part of Sahodari? India's pioneer organization on transgender rights and empowerment, the revolutionary Sahodari Foundation www.sahodari.org is celebrating its 16th Birthday and our community is getting together to celebrate all our successes and plans for the future. Where are we getting together? Not on the bombastic stage but in a beautiful serene place in Kerala. We will have personal stories of success, health reviews, art making, video film shoots, unity dance, earth material fashion show and much more. We are very excited :).

Thanks to Bosch and my dear friend Selvarani M for helping our transgender students from Sahodari Foundation get these laptops for their education. this year we hope to get continued support in procuring more laptops for supporting the education of many more and the privileged transgender women who wanted to pursue their education as well as jobs in different fields. if you are a part of a Corporate you could help us by supporting our transgender community with used laptops in good condition. "Trans Rights, Climate Justice! Our Fight, Our Future!" was the slogan at the Round Table on Climate Change and its challenges on marginalised transgender women. Organised by Sahodari Foundation (www.sahodari.org), the One day program brought together the the transgender community members from North Chennai. We had a long and detailed discussion on how climate change - the excessive heat, extra ordinary rains and floods has affected our community's health and livelihood. We also give an orientation class about Transgender Rights Protection Act 2019 and the Equal Opportunities Policy for Transgender Persons both introduced by the Govt of India. We have planned to hold this community discussion and sensitization sessions at all southern states of India - Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry and Telangana. The vulnerable and marginalised transgender persons do not know their rights and opportunities in spite of the tremendous growth in communication and the internet technologies. Organisations working for the transgender community should focus on sensitizing the vulnerable transgender people on their rights. It is very important to make them understand about the Transgender Protection Act 2019 and the Equal Opportunities Policy introduced by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The transgender community's fight is not only about their human rights and economic safety, it is also about their future - living in a world that guarantees good water, energy, good health and safe housing. For the past 17 years, Sahodari Foundation has been committed to working and empowering the marginalised and poor transgender persons. Our fight! Our Future!
