The students, living in nearby slum areas, are children of migrant labourers from North India. On 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, the Students and Teachers met at “𝐍𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚” in Thane, for the 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐩 orientation session. The Teachers were given access to the 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐩, 2 weeks earlier, so that they get familiarised with the App before training their students. The students have been given a target to complete the “𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡” course and 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 have been announced for the 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟑 students. The lively setting under the shade of 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬, is a great way for the students, to start their learning journey, through the App. This is just a small beginning. Introducing 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 to 𝐫𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 enhances their cognitive and emotional development 🎼🎶 Studies have shown that children who engage with music have improved brain development, which help them perform better in academics, particularly in subjects like Math and languages. For many rural students, access to counselling or mental health resources is limited. Music provides a healthy outlet for emotions, helping students cope with stress, anxiety, and trauma. But unfortunately, 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 are not part of the curriculum in all Govt schools in India. And to address this gap, Sharada Educational Trust is partnering with 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 to launch 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 at 𝟐 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐭. 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐚 on a pilot basis, sometime in Dec 2024. The initiative should benefit about 𝟒𝟎 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (2 batches) as well as their 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 👍

"𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬” Unlike their urban counterparts, students from 𝐫𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 are not fortunate to have 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲, as a subject, taught to them as part of their regular curriculum or as an extra curricular activity. Our 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 program, targeted at rural kids (age group 8 to 14), doesn't involve "black-board" based teaching. Through the means of 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳, students are taught the importance of a) Savings, b) Bank account, c) Insurance and about basic Finance. On 𝐒𝐚𝐭 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐜𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, we organised a 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 program at 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 - 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐮 in Kanakapura taluk, attended by 𝟏𝟐𝟎 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 from 𝐒𝐭𝐝. 𝟓𝐭𝐡 to 𝟖𝐭𝐡. The program started with 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, participated by 𝟐𝟎 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 in 4 teams. The stage plays followed a similar theme with topics like (a) Bank Loan v/s Moneylenders, (b) Importance of Money in an household, (c) Functioning of a Bank and (d) How a Bank loan comes to a Farmer's rescue. The children came from their homes in drama costume and the scene resembled a carnival of sorts. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 were awarded to the winners of the competition and every child was given an 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐤𝐢𝐭 as a take-away gift, for attending the event of such importance to them. The program ended with a 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 on 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 followed by light refreshments. The children went back home wiser with the knowledge gained during the event and hope the message spreads within their families and neighbourhood 👍🏻 Sharada Educational Trust wishes to 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 SHWETHA P S and Priya Shivaprakash, for successfully organising the program 🙏🏻

We wish to Thank Wonder Woman Wednesday, for publishing the inspirational story of SHWETHA P S, who has lived up to our core objective - "𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒂 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒕 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒕𝒔" 👍 Please read the article published on the Wonder Woman Wednesday website today ... https://lnkd.in/dtmwBYUA
"Hi, I am SHWETHA P S As part of Project Sulabh, I play a crucial role in empowering fellow Government School Teachers, bringing substantial benefits to hundreds of rural students. Just as Government Schools in Karnataka closed for the summer holidays in April 2024, I learned about an Online Spoken English course offered by Sharada Educational Trust—a Bangalore-based NGO dedicated to education and women's empowerment. I am a teacher at Government Model Higher Primary School- Sathanuru, located about 75 km from Bangalore, and I quickly enrolled in the course. With perfect attendance, I topped the batch by excelling in assessment exercises aimed at teachers. As the course concluded, Sharada Educational Trust introduced the Sulabh App on May 15, 2024, at Government Primary School – Cheeluru. Developed by three students from BFH University in Bern, Switzerland, for their Bachelor's thesis, the app aims to supplement learning by offering courses like Spoken English, Financial Literacy for kids, and Soft skills for Teachers in both self-paced and tutor-led formats. I was part of the core team trained on the app and took an active part in the field-testing during the Swiss team's visit. After the launch, I championed the Sulabh App among my students, who come from rural and underprivileged backgrounds and primarily speak Kannada. Having had no exposure to English until high school myself, I understand the importance of learning English for a brighter future. The Sulabh App officially launched on June 15, 2024, after I enrolled about 20 students and four teachers from my school. Despite the challenge of students not having smartphones to access the app, I encouraged parents to lend their phones on Saturdays so I could teach the children how to use the app for learning English and financial literacy. By July's end, I had introduced around 50 students from grades 5 to 8 to both subjects using the Sulabh App after school hours. In less than three months, about 30 students received certificates of completion in Spoken English and Financial Literacy, which were awarded on Independence Day, August 15, 2024. Believing in the adage, "What you want to ignite in others must first burn inside yourself," I didn't stop at just educating students. I also took on the responsibility of teaching and empowering other Government School Teachers across remote parts of Karnataka as part of Project Sulabh, despite the challenges of commuting long distances and managing home responsibilities. Sharada Educational Trust's collaboration with Right To Live empowers hundreds of Government School Teachers through a "Hybrid mode" of learning. Read my full story on the website to know how it is expected to impact over 300 Government School students. https://lnkd.in/dtmwBYUA" #wonderwomanwednesday #reallifestores Story Credit : Arvind Kamath

Teachers serve as role models. When they demonstrate 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 abilities, students are more likely to emulate these skills, which are vital for their future academic and professional success 👍 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 is a foundational skill that helps Teachers communicate effectively with their students, parents and other stakeholders. Importantly, this skill also helps them in their professional development and leadership. We understand the need and hence we organised a session on 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 by 𝐌𝐬 Uma Nataraj, as part of our 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 for 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬. The session held on Thu 17th Oct 2024, was attended by Teachers from 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐚, 𝐁𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫 & 𝐊𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐬 of Karnataka. Kudos to 𝐌𝐬 Uma Nataraj, for her passion to teach this subject to the 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬, that will go a long way in improving their communications skills 👏 👏
