“I donated half of my first salary to an orphanage. My name is Susana Maria, a 22-year-old B. Com graduate. My father is a painter, and my mother runs a small tailoring shop. Despite our financial struggles, their love and hard work have always inspired me. Right after completing my graduation, I enrolled in the Smile Foundation’s BFSI training course, which equipped me with the skills to step confidently into the professional world. After the training, I secured a job with a Finance company. Receiving my first paycheck was a moment of immense pride and gratitude. Growing up, I witnessed many hardships, not only in my family but also in our community. This has instilled in me a deep sense of compassion and a strong desire to give back to society. Donating half of my first salary to an orphanage was a natural decision, to share my blessings and supporting those in need. Now, as I help my family financially, ensuring my parents don’t have to worry about making ends meet, I am also committed to continuing my efforts to give back.” Susana Susana was trained on Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) under Smile Foundation’s livelihood programme, STeP in Bengaluru. "I grew up in a small village near Amer (Rajasthan. My parents worked tirelessly in the fields, instilling in me the values of hard work from a very young age. Despite financial hardships, I walked several kilometers to school every day, driven by a desire to learn. Completing my 12th class from Government Girls Higher Secondary School was a significant milestone. A vocational training under Project Manzil during schooling opened my eyes to a career in healthcare, leading me to pursue a B.Voc degree from Bhartiya Skill Development University. After graduation, I began working in a hospital. When my father fell ill, I became the sole breadwinner, a responsibility that weighed heavily on my young shoulders. Despite the immense pressure, I was determined to succeed. I began preparing for competitive exams at the Himalaya Education Center, funding my studies through my job. My goal is to make a real difference in people’s lives through healthcare, and every step I take brings me closer to this vision." Nikita (Trained in Healthcare under Project Manzil in Rajasthan) --------------------------------------------------- Project Manzil, implemented by Smile Foundation, aims to provide counseling and employability skills training in IT, healthcare, beauty & wellness, security, retail, automobile, apparel, home furnishing, agriculture, tourism & hospitality, and electrical & electronics to young girls in Rajasthan. #ProjectManzil #SkillTraining #VocationalEducation #TayariKalKi #VocationalTraining #WomenEmpowerment
