An event transforms into a festival when people bring music, poetry, colour, and stories from their experiences. The audience at the ORA Ideas Festival sang, laughed, and applauded the stories of resilience, courage, and risk-taking that surfaced during the event. The skillful moderation by Sushmit Ghosh, the evocative poetry of Jacinta Kerketta, and the soulful rendition of Kabir songs by Ritesh Gohiya and the SHEDO team moved us to connect and relate to our own journeys of resilience. Khoj Studios served as the perfect venue! We are signing off from the first edition of the ORA Ideas Festival with the promise of returning with a second season of the festival! Catch the energy and engagement of a packed house at the exhibition, 'Narratives of Resilience' which showcased the groundbreaking work of the ORA India Fellows. Through poetry, films, music, performances, photographs, interactive maps and satellite images, the ORA Fellows wove a moving narrative of how communities on the ground practise resilience, resistance and renewal. What does ‘resilience’ mean for communities who find themselves in the hotbeds of the polycrisis? Can there be a dark side to resilience? What words, idioms, and connotations do local languages hold for the term resilience? Who is best placed to build narratives of community resilience? How do art, literature, and poetry speak of resilience? These were the themes of a free-flowing, generative conversation at the ORA Ideas Adda. ORA India Fellows, Advisors, Research Partners, and the ORA team met at the beautiful Khoj Studio for an immersive conversation on Narratives of Resilience, moderated masterfully by Gouran Dhawan Lall. We were moved to tears, listened deeply, and laughed with joy. The intimate and immersive conversation was the perfect grounding before opening up to the large and public ORA Ideas Festival. The ORA (Omega Resilience Awards) Ideas Festival presents Imagining Resilience - an evening of art, music, poetry, and immersive conversations. The event highlights include:  ~Poetry by ORA Fellow Jacinta Kerketta ~Kabir-Nirguni songs by Fellow Ritesh Gohiya and singers from Central India ~Cotton Stainers, by women farmers from Gram Art Project Collective, a performance on the burdens women bear for being rural women in an average Indian village. ~An interactive discussion on why community narratives and storytelling matter. The panel discussion will be moderated by ORA India Advisor and Academy-nominated filmmaker Sushmit Ghosh, Co-Founder of Black Ticket Films. The event is by invitation.
