Exclusivity Deals: Zomato’s exclusivity contracts and Swiggy’s business growth guarantees for select restaurants were flagged as anticompetitive by the Competition Commission Of India. Previous Investigations: This follows a 2022 CCI probe initiated by a 2021 NRAI complaint, which alleged practices like bundling, high commissions, and biased pricing. Swiggy IPO Status: The findings surface as Swiggy’s IPO is open, with a strong 3.58X subscription led by high demand from Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs). Flipkart Arm Ekart’s Loss Widens To INR 1,1718 Cr in FY24 Surge in Losses for Ekart: Ekart Logistics’s net losses reached INR 1,718.4 Cr in FY24, a 5X increase from the previous year’s INR 324.6 Cr, mainly due to rising expenses and a decline in revenue. Decline in Revenue: Revenue for InstakartServices Private Limited, Ekart's operating entity, dropped by 5% to INR 12,115.3 Cr in FY24 from INR 12,787.4 Cr the prior year. Increased Expenses: Total expenses for Ekart rose by 6% to INR 14,149.4 Cr, with higher employee and other operational costs contributing significantly. Revenue Breakdown: Logistics made up 78% of Ekart's revenue (INR 9,429.8 Cr), while warehousing services accounted for 10%. Growth in Other Flipkart Segments: Flipkart India’s B2B revenue grew 26% YoY to INR 70,541.9 Cr, while Flipkart Internet’s revenue rose 21% to INR 17,907.3 Cr, narrowing losses by 41%.
