Hello, connections! I recently completed a project on modelling and simulating a lithium-ion battery using the 2RC equivalent circuit model in Matlab Simulink. This model incorporates s-domain implementation through transfer functions to accurately predict the battery's voltage response under various load conditions. This project involved the development and simulation of a 2RC equivalent circuit model for a lithium-ion battery using Matlab Simulink. The model predicts the battery's voltage response under various load conditions. Accurate modelling of these batteries is crucial for predicting performance, estimating state of charge (SoC), and ensuring safe operation. The 2RC equivalent circuit model provides a simplified yet effective representation of the battery's internal processes and dynamics. 1. Model Development: ➡️ The model consists of two resistors (R) and two capacitors (C) representing the internal resistance and capacitance of the battery. The first RC pair represents the fast dynamics of the battery, while the second RC pair represent the slow dynamics. Together, they provide a comprehensive model that accurately captures the battery's behaviour ➡️Matlab Simulink was used to create the model, with parameters estimated from experimental data. 2. S-Domain Implementation: ➡️The 2RC model was implemented using transfer functions in the s-domain. ➡️Transfer functions were derived and combined to form the overall model, then implemented in Simulink using the Transfer Function block. ➡️Experimental data was collected from a lithium-ion battery under controlled conditions. 3. Simulation: ➡️The Simulink environment was utilized to simulate the battery's behaviour( voltage drop) under various load conditions. ➡️The model's voltage response was compared with experimental results to validate its accuracy. Also, it was validated against a time domain implementation. Results: ➡️ The simulation results showed a close match between predicted and experimental voltage responses. ➡️ Graph demonstrated the model's effectiveness in capturing the battery's behaviour. It can be effectively used in battery management systems (BMS) to estimate SoC and manage thermal conditions. The model's accuracy and simplicity make it suitable for further research and development in battery technology. I would like to thank Vishal Ahuja and Lokesh Soni for their guidance. #MATLAB #Simulink TechLanz #BMS #LiionBattery
