The development of Personal Leadership and Citizenship are two core goals for our Students at TGAA. Our Student Council (popularly known as "StuCo") is a system that nurtures these skills. While StuCo at TGAA Chembur has been in action for some time, this was the first year for our StuCo at TGAA Mulund. After being democratically elected by the students, StuCo members participated in a Leadership Session with our School Director. Here, they discussed principles like 'Leadership is a responsibility not a rank' and 'Leadership is We (empowering) not Me (ordering) as they ready themselves for this important responsibility. Their passion and enthusiastic ideas for helping their student community and school was truly inspirational!

Raising awareness about environmental issue fosters a sense of responsibility towards the planet. Witness our students celebrating 'World Environment Day'! Participating in such events educates them on sustainability and the importance of preserving natural resources for future. Students enthusiastically celebrated by showcasing their creative "Treasure from Trash" projects. They transformed discarded items into innovative products, highlighting the importance of recycling. The event culminated in a vibrant assembly in the foyer, where students celebrated with engaging plays, music, and an environmental quiz, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability. #worldenvironmentday #sustainability #treasurefromtrash

Teachers energize students with quick movement breaks! Incorporating a 2-minute physical activity in a class. It reduces restlessness and improves focus while also enhancing student attention. Bringing History Alive through a Museum on Wheels! Last week our students of Grades 4,6 and 7 experienced the lives of people in ancient civilisations. In collaboration with the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, the school hosted their Museum on Wheels bus which brough life-like replicas of artefacts from Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Greek Civilisations. Educators from the museum also provided an informative short seminar on importance of museums before onboarding students on the bus. This was followed by a hands-on demonstration of how printing press operated in ancient times for all students. The team also provided an informative session on bringing History alive in our Social Science classrooms through virtual visits to museums, storytelling and analysis of historical sources. #history #museumonwheels #experientiallearning

Strong reading and literacy skills are an essential tool in todays information rich world. At TGAA, students don't just have opportunities to read, they are also explicitly taught a range to strategie to help them be more effective readers. Here's a brief note on one such strategy 'The 5 finger strategy' from one of out TGAA Teachers: Ever faced the towering TBR pile on your nightstand? It's a monument to our reading aspirations. But imagine guiding young readers to their ideal book. Abracadabra! Enter the Five Finger Strategy: a simple yet powerful method empowering students to pick books just for them. In the school library, I saw this strategy in action. Tiny fingers counted as kids delved into books. From Student A, diving into fairy tales with "Snow White," to Student J, unravelling mysteries in "Peter and the Magic Shadow," each child found their reading sweet spot. These weren't just book moments; they were confidence boosters. The library hummed with newfound excitement, a far cry from my own library memories. This May we discussed many ideas including the skills of 'Teachers as Changemakers', Support students with positive behaviors, Generative AI for Education, Socio-emotional Learning skills, Comprehension Strategies, Classroom Management Strategies, Approaches to Learning, Arts in Early Childhood, Classroom Management for New Teachers, Preparing with 'Lesson Studies', Study Skills for Board Exams and much more!
