What a great partnership it has been between PwC India Foundation and The Corbett Foundation! It has significantly promoted human-wildlife coexistence in the #Kanha Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh. With the financial support from PwC India Foundation, TCF has undertaken vital habitat restoration efforts in the reserve's buffer zone, focusing on the removal of invasive plant species and the plantation of native trees and bamboo. Additionally, TCF's work extended to 18 surrounding villages, where they aimed to reduce the local communities' reliance on the forest for resources. This was achieved through the distribution of energy-efficient cookstoves, which decreased the need for firewood. TCF also initiated capacity-building programmes to equip the tribal population with skills for sustainable and alternative livelihoods, promoting economic self-reliance while conserving natural resources. A small dam was constructed to harvest rainwater, benefiting both the villagers and the local wildlife by providing a consistent water source, especially during dry seasons. Furthermore, TCF published a children's storybook aimed at fostering environmental consciousness among the younger generation, ensuring that future citizens value and protect the delicate balance between human activity and nature. This collaborative effort demonstrates the impact that #strategicpartnerships can have on conservation and community development, creating a sustainable model for preserving biodiversity while improving the livelihoods of local populations. TCF expresses a deep sense of gratitude to the wonderful and committed team of #PwC India Foundation Neetika Goyal, Punyasil Yonzon and Zumur Taha, led by Jaivir Singh, for all the support and guidance extended to the people and wildlife of #Kanha Tiger Reserve in #MadhyaPradesh since 2020. Thank you PwC India for sharing the work done through this project 💚 #CSR #csrpartnership #sustainabledevelopment #habitatrestoration Kedar Gore Naveen Pandey Priya warekar
Partnership, collaboration and embedded engagement – this is how we provide sustained, holistic and integrated solutions! The PwC India Foundation, joining hands with The Corbett Foundation, has been working on improving the ecological and socio-economic transformation of the villages around the Kanha Tiger Reserve over the last three years. Working closely with the Forest Department from the state government and rural communities too, our intervention focuses on teamwork with diverse stakeholders to boost development for rural communities. This amalgamation of perspectives, ideas and solutions has helped set the tone for what can be achieved when private and social sectors come together for a shared purpose. It’s guided us to encompass and integrate many initiatives within the project, enhancing and amplifying our efforts to cover green livelihoods, sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and much more. As TCF launches the ‘Tales of Kanha’ children’s book, we’re proud of the work being done by our partners to instil values of sustainability and environment conservation among the next generation. #TogetherWeFuture #PwCIF Jaivir Singh | The Corbett Foundation

Global Tiger Day 2024 The Corbett Foundation (TCF) has long been dedicated to the conservation of one of the world's most iconic and majestic species – the tiger. Tigers are not just apex predators; they are keystone species whose presence signifies a healthy, thriving ecosystem. Recognizing the profound interconnectedness between human societies and tiger habitats, TCF is committed to fostering coexistence and mutual respect. Global Tiger Day, celebrated annually on July 29th, provides a unique opportunity to highlight the importance of tiger conservation and the role every individual can play in safeguarding these magnificent creatures. TCF's engagement with local communities is a year-round endeavor, but #GlobalTigerDay sees a special focus on raising awareness and inspiring action. Our on-ground teams work tirelessly to spread knowledge and cultivate a sense of pride and appreciation for tigers, particularly among children and youth. This year, we organized a series of events designed to captivate and educate the younger generation, instilling in them the values of conservation and respect for nature. The celebrations included a variety of interactive and educational activities. Movie screenings about tigers and their habitats provided a visual and emotional connection to these animals, highlighting both their beauty and the challenges they face. Street plays performed by local artists brought the message of conservation to life, using drama and storytelling to engage audiences and inspire action. Drawing and painting competitions allowed children to express their love for tigers creatively, fostering a personal connection to the species. One of the highlights of this year's Global Tiger Day was the launch of a children's storybook का न्हा की कहा नि याँ (Tales of Kanha) at the hands of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, during the Global Tiger Day celebrations in Bhopal. The main purpose of this book is educating and inspiring young minds about the importance of wildlife conservation. This beautifully illustrated book is a compilation of short stories aimed at busting common myths and misconceptions about tigers and other wildlife species in forests. Do checkout our comprehensive report of the Global Tiger Day 2024 activities across our divisions in #Corbett, #Kanha, #Bandhavgarh and #Kaziranga. Awareness only gets us another step closer to the protection and conservation of wildlife. With this in mind, as a part of our CSR project SAHJEEVAN, together with the Corbett Tiger Reserve and The Corbett Foundation, we launched an awareness campaign for schools around the national reserve. On this #InternationalTigerDay 🐅, we hosted a workshop for teachers from these schools to shape the framework of this awareness program - with an aim to educate and inspire young minds to become champions of conservation! Together, we can protect our wildlife and preserve their habitats for their future generations and ours! 🌿 #InterationalTigerDay2024 #WildlifeConsersation #TataCommunications

#NationalMothWeek Moths are incredible creatures! More than 140,000 species described so far and perhaps as many waiting to be described!! Over 12,000 species have been recorded from India so far. #Moths are creatures with beautiful and intricate designs with a riot of colours. They are possibly the best source inspiration for textile designers of the world. Unfortunately, very little is known about these insects as compared to their more popular cousins - the butterflies. Moths play an important role as pollinators. They are nocturnal in habits though many species are active in the daytime too! Several insectivorous birds, amphibians, reptiles, bats and spiders feed on moths, making them an important part of the food web. Moths have often been considered as indicators of environmental quality and habitat disturbance. They have been also found to be indicators of climate change in some of the research studies. Moths also cause considerable agricultural losses by feeding on crops. However, their ecological value is far more than the losses incurred. Silk Moths have probably contributed more to the economy of the world than us Homo sapiens! Monsoon is the best time to explore your surrounding for these lovely denizens of the natural world 💚🐛 Species depicted in the post: 1. Elbowed-banded Rajendra (Rajendra perrotteti) 2. Geometer Moth (Hypomecis sp.) 3. Castor Semi-looper (Archaea janata) 4. Greater Golden Emperor Moth (Loepa katinka) 5. Hawkmoth caterpillar 6. Monkey Moth (Eupterote undata) 7. Slug Moth or Stinging Nettle caterpillar (Phocoderma sp.) 8. Spotted Marumba (Marumba dyras) 9. Swallowtail moth (Micronia sp.) 10.
