This horrific act of violence, where individuals seek to “correct” a woman’s sexual orientation through rape, is rooted in ignorance, hate, and homophobia. Across the globe, from South Africa to India, lesbian women are subjected to this brutal crime, which leaves deep psychological scars, trauma, and sadly, has even led to lives lost to suicide. We must shatter the silence surrounding this issue. Corrective rape is not just a crime against one’s body, but an attack on one’s right to love and exist freely.
