Okay, on to more interesting things. Let us look at some interesting statistics related to blobs. 1. Inscriptions have been the biggest contributor to blob traffic in the last couple of days. Bitcoin ordinals have been a focus of interest for quite a while so this trend had to follow of course! 2. Most L2s are actively submitting blobs to Ethereum with @base leading the way quite recently seems like. 3. Now, for the most important thing - moneeeyy! Blob L1 fees has reduced over a period of time but started insanely high. 7871$ was paid just by inscriptions in the past couple of hours :O 4. As we are starting to dive deeper into Blobs, let's look at some technical terms associated with it. KZG - A polynomial commitment scheme is a popular scheme used in blobs. One useful feature which is enabled by commitments to data blobs is that of data availability sampling. With this, validators can verify the correctness and availability of a data blob without needing to download the entire data blob. What are polynomial commitment schemes? A polynomial commitment scheme allows a user to commit to a polynomial, such that information about it, such as y-values at certain x-points can be revealed later without having to reveal the polynomial itself. You can already see that it would be very useful for Zero Knowledge Proving and Verification. It has 3 main concepts - Commitment, Reveal and Verification. Ethereum uses the KZG Commitment Scheme to commit data blobs as of now. This helps us understand a bit more about how Ethereum's roadmap to scalability looks like and what efforts are being made to reach there. #blockchain #blobs #kzg #polynomialcommitment #education

With so much news about EIP-4844 going around, let’s break down what EIP-4844 is and the interesting functionality of our beloved blobs. The Dencun hard-fork introduced proto-danksharding a.k.a blobs. So, what are they? - Blobs are essentially large chunks of data (up to 128kb each) that can be included in a block. - Temporary in nature - Required to be stored for approximately 18 days. There is new fee market introduced for blobs called blob gas. Blob gas != Normal Gas At the moment, the Ethereum network is currently targeting 6 blobs per block. Blobs are priced cheaper than call data because call data is stored forever. This is what makes L2 txs cheaper.
