𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶: 𝗔 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻! Ever noticed how a 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 room feels 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰, while 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲 makes you 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗺? Colours do more than just decorate our world. They shape our emotions! Studies show that warm colours like 𝗥𝗲𝗱❤️ and 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲🧡 can boost 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, while cool tones like 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲🩵 and 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻💚 promote 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲. Even 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗸 has been used in some prisons to 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻! 🩷 Holi, the festival of colours, is 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 of how deeply colours influence us. Splashing vibrant gulal isn’t just fun, it’s symbolic of 𝗷𝗼𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. Maybe that’s why festivals filled with colour always bring a sense of 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀! So, this Holi, let your colours speak for you. Feeling 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱? Go for 𝗥𝗲𝗱! Seeking 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲? A splash of 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 might be perfect! Maybe next time, instead of just saying how you feel, express it through colors! 🌈✨ #Holi2025 #FestivalOfColors #PsychologyOfColors #EmotionsInColor #HappyHoli

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆: 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘎𝘢𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩, 𝘓𝘦𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵! For decades, psychology, and science in general, was built on research that often excluded women. Take 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗞𝗼𝗵𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴’𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. His studies focused mostly on men, leading him to claim that 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 of morality, too focused on relationships and emotions, while men progressed to further stages! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵? Women were NOT even properly included in the research. And this isn’t just a psychological problem. Until the 1990s, 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗻, so doctors didn’t realize women show different symptoms than men in various conditions. Even car crash tests were designed using male-sized dummies, making women more likely to get injured in accidents! Thankfully, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 is being made! 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟱𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 in social sciences and psychology, leading ground breaking studies that finally include diverse perspectives. A few examples to be acknowledged here 👇 ➡️ 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗣𝗔 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 despite Harvard denying her a Ph.D. ➡️ 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗸 exposing how segregation harmed Black children’s self-esteem, shaping civil rights policies. ➡️ 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗻 revolutionized mental health care with 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 (𝗗𝗕𝗧). ➡️ In India, 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗻, transforming psychiatric care, emphasizing dignity and rehabilitation. TW: Self Harm “𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙢 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙙 15-24, 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 60,000 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮.” (Source: The Times of India) Shattering and unfortunate! Self-harm is not just a statistic; it’s a silent struggle that many face in isolation. As we observe 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, let’s take a moment to understand, recognize, and support those who might be battling this invisible pain. Self-harm, or non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), is the act of intentionally hurting oneself as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions, stress, or trauma, and never about seeking attention 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗕𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 - Unexplained cuts, bruises, or burns (especially on arms, thighs, or stomach) - Wearing long sleeves even in warm weather - Avoiding social interactions or withdrawing from loved ones. - Expressing feelings of hopelessness, numbness, or being a burden - Keeping sharp objects close without clear reason 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀: 𝗗𝗢𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗢𝗡’𝗧𝘀 - DO start a conversation with empathy. Use open-ended questions like, “𝘐’𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮 𝘶𝘱𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺. 𝘋𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵?” - DO NOT dismiss their feelings with phrases like “𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦” 𝘰𝘳 “𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨.” - DO listen without judgment. Let them express their feelings without fear of criticism. - DO NOT force them to stop or give ultimatums. This can backfire and make them feel more isolated. - DO encourage professional help. Gently suggest therapy or counseling and offer to help them find resources. - DO NOT take their actions personally. Their self-harm is not a reflection of your relationship with them. - DO be patient. Recovery is a journey, and small steps matter. - DO NOT share their struggles without their consent. Respect their privacy and trust. Let’s break the silence around self-harm and create a safe space for those in need. Together, we can make a difference. 💙 #selfharm #wellbeing #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #support

“Recovery is not for people who need it, it’s for people who want it." Recovery is a personal journey where individuals with psychiatric disabilities work toward adapting to their condition and making positive changes in their lives. It's about improving overall well-being and finding a sense of connection with the community. Mental health professionals play a crucial role in this process by understanding each person’s unique story and helping them access the right resources and support. Some simple yet impactful approaches to recovery include avoiding high-risk situations, being honest with yourself, and reaching out for support, whether it’s from government initiatives, non-profit organisations like Vandrevala Foundation or AASRA, crisis helplines, or trusted networks like family, friends, or psychologists. With the right support, setting small, achievable goals, developing self-care routines like healthy eating and exercise, and doing things that bring joy can make all the difference in the journey to a healthier, more fulfilling life. #RecoveryJourney #MentalHealthSupport #WellBeing #SelfCare #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportMatters #Therapy #CommunitySupport #HealthyLiving #Mindfulness #MentalHealthRecovery #OvercomingChallenges #HopeAndHealing #Resilience #PersonalGrowth
