On this #InternationalGirlChildDay hear from a TRI-trained volunteer as she breaks myths and empowers communities with the truth about how a baby’s gender is determined. At TRI we partner with local volunteers to shift mindsets and ensure every girl can thrive. How can we work together to support girl children? It’s a collaborative effort where the Gram Panchayat and villagers join hands to decide what’s best for their village. From building roads and schools to improving healthcare and sanitation, GPDP ensures that every step taken is for the benefit of all. 🌱 At TRI we believe everyone has a voice in shaping their communities. Rest in Peace, Ratan Naval Tata, you were a titan among mortals. RNT, as he was called, was an exceptional leader who took big bets when many remained tentative, seeing the Tata Group grow in India and beyond. But he went beyond the business of business. RNT inspired us deeply at Transform Rural India. He gave us confidence, resources and the seed to build an organisation that could translate his imagination of a future world without deprivation. In many ways "Transform Rural India" was the only pitch we could make to him – nothing less bold or less committed would have interested him. His grace and aura have made us want to excel beyond our capabilities – to dream big. He had a way of putting you at ease while challenging you to do more at the same time. For his radiating charm, warmth and a can-do energy, he gave wings to our ideas and the confidence to learn, emulate and challenge ourselves. May the angels keep you close and warm, giving you the same love, energy and empathy that you so generously shared with all of us.

Last night, I watched the recently launched 3D Design Digest by Transform Rural India (https://lnkd.in/dbFUCy4k) , featuring an insightful conversation between André Nogueira, and Lyndee Prickitt. Without ruining the video for you and giving too much away, here are the key takeaways that stood out for me: A Systemic Design Perspective: Breaking Down Silos One powerful example discussed was the roadworks conundrum: One week, the road is dug up for cables, then a week later for water pipes, and so on. Each effort has its own budget, timeline, and agenda. The lack of coordination highlights a fragmented system, which costs both time and money. What design brings to the table is a systemic perspective—a bird’s-eye view that breaks down these silos. By integrating the efforts of different stakeholders, design fosters collaboration, cuts unnecessary costs, and improves outcomes for everyone. Connected dots: The São Paulo Urban Development Case One of the standout stories from the discussion was about São Paulo’s urban development. Private developers bought land on the city’s outskirts, pulling critical infrastructure away from the city center. This created urban voids within the city, leading to the rise of informal settlements. Local farmers, caught in a loop of uncertainty, didn’t invest in their land while waiting for offers from developers. Here’s where design thinking made the difference. By connecting urban development with agriculture, São Paulo came up with a solution where local farmers could sell their produce to public schools. This provided them with security, a steady demand, and economic empowerment. It’s a prime example of how systems thinking can solve complex, intertwined challenges by connecting previously isolated dots. Empowering People to Become Problem Solvers One of the most thought-provoking points was the shift from viewing people in the development sector as mere beneficiaries. Traditionally, we focus on their deficits—what they lack, what needs fixing. But instead, what if we designed solutions that increase their capabilities so they can solve problems for themselves? This shift in thinking empowers communities, fosters self-reliance, and enhances the sustainability of any intervention. People should be agents of their own solutions, not passive recipients of aid. During my brief stint at Leap, I learned more about systems thinking than I ever imagined. The experience made me fall in love with the combination of development and design, and the potential it has to create lasting, positive change in communities. It was a full-circle moment—connecting my own journey with the broader conversation about how design can transform development. If you're passionate about design, development, or creating lasting change, I highly recommend checking out this digest. It’s more than a conversation—it’s a call to rethink how we tackle challenges today.

We are elated to see Neeraj Ahuja represent TRI at the New York edition of #UNGA79 ‘Global Opportunity Youth: Building a Greener Future’ event. 👏 The Global Opportunity Youth Network (GOYN)
✨ We’re still buzzing from our event in New York last week: “Global Opportunity Youth: Building a Greener Future Together.” Co-hosted by GOYN, Accenture and The Global Development Incubator during #UNGA79, this energizing event showcased new opportunities and innovations for youth in the green economy! 🌍 We’re so proud of our youth speakers, Andrés Felipe Becerra Rodríguez and Edna Kaguongo, who shared powerful personal examples of their own green initiatives as well as green opportunities within their communities. Elevating #youth voice and experience is one of GOYN’s core values of Authentic Youth Partnership, where youth are not only in the audience, but are in fact driving conversations as the featured speakers. The panel was rounded out by experts Lucy Murdoch and Thomas Liu from Accenture, Neeraj Ahuja from the Transform Rural India Foundation, Commissioner Shekhar Singh of #PCMC, #India, and moderated by Alice Gugelev from The Global Development Incubator, with opening remarks from Accenture Global Managing Director of Corporate Citizenship, Jill Huntley, and GOYN Founding Director Jamie McAuliffe sharing firsthand insights on how young people are leading climate action in their communities and driving sustainable change. 🌱💡 💬 The energy and ideas shared reaffirmed our belief that young people are not just shaping the future—they’re proving that the future is NOW. Thank you to all our speakers and participants—including partners from Prudential Financial Foundation and IREX—for making this event a success! Thanks, also, to Mastercard Foundation, Livelihood Impact Fund, Anglo American Foundation, Vitol Foundation, and Fundación ”la Caixa” for their continued interest and commitment to our work. Let’s continue to work together to turn these insights into action and create a brighter, greener future. 🌟 #UNGA79 #GreenJobs #GreenEconomy #ClimateAction #YouthEmpowerment #ClimateWeekNYC #UNGA #SDGs #YouthForClimate
