A big achievement for all of us.
In the last couple of years, TLP has been trying to make inroads into manufacturing railway components other than Overhead Electrification (OHE). Recently, we were tasked by Kolkata Metro to produce a beam to hold their Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) for their Medha rakes. Their existing beam was made of iron and small pieces of the pipe were welded together to form the beam. This led to two problems over time. 1. Rusting in the beam and 2. Cracks where it was welded Based on the design by Kolkata Metro we made a one-piece beam made of Stainless-Steel grade 316 designed and bent to fit the TPWS without any welding. Taking two samples, we ran fitment tests on Medha rakes 406 and 410. The TPWS in rake 410 was from Hitachi. The TLP and the Hitachi team successfully installed the new beam along with their TPWS. This marked TLP’s entry into the rolling stock market. #TLP #TransmissionLineProducts #KolkataMetro
