    Back in 2008, we set out on a challenging journey to develop India’s first indigenous speech recognition system. Two years later,I vividly remember pitching our solution to a company then managing the 139 helpline for Indian Railways. Back then, I was focused on showcasing how automation could save costs without truly grasping the full scale of the service or the complexities of its business model. Predictably, we weren’t successful. It felt far-fetched at that point even to think we could handle the entire helpline operation, as we were only trying to address a small piece of the automation puzzle. However, we didn't give up and honestly worked on the fundamentals. Over the years, we committed ourselves to building a strong foundation. We worked tirelessly, refining our technology and approach. With time, Ubona Technologies positioned itself as a cutting-edge partner, capable of managing entire communication systems. Fast forward to 2023, when Indian Railways/IRCTC floated a tender to modernize the 139 helpline, we were ready. This time, we won. We won because of our relentless pursuit of innovation and the power of GENAI (Generative AI). Our technology isn’t just about handling high volumes of calls with high performance—it’s about redefining the service model itself. By shifting from a per-seat to a per-call pricing model, we’re breaking new ground. Our GENAI-driven automation not only processes calls efficiently but also ensures there’s no waiting time for customers, all while drastically reducing costs. IRCTC, with over 300,000 calls landing daily, is the perfect example of this transformation. GENAI is revolutionising the customer service landscape by enabling intelligent automation that scales effortlessly. What we’re pioneering at Ubona Technologies has the potential to change the face of government services, where large-scale calls can be handled with minimal human intervention, ensuring reliability, speed, and cost-efficiency. I’m incredibly proud of our journey, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the relentless dedication of my co-founders Umesh Singhal and Vishal Lal and the brilliant team at Ubona Technologies. Together, we’ve brought 139 to where it is today—the largest inbound helpline in the world and, in my view, one of the best real-world implementations of GENAI in India. Lastly, I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Sujit John for the outstanding coverage of this milestone. Delighted to share that my voice is now the one guiding millions of passengers through their queries on this helpline!     Friday afternoons – always a special occasion at Ubona Technologies —the time when the aroma of freshly fried samosas lures us all to the rooftop! As soon as the samosa hour strikes, a long queue forms, with everyone eagerly waiting to get their hands on those sizzling hot delights. It’s an “All you can eat”, samosa-eating bonanza—eat as many as you can handle, no judgment here! The thrill doesn’t stop at the taste buds; a few of us also pack a few extra to-go for a little Friday night bonus at home. There are jokes around the office of maximum attendance of Friday attributed to the rooftop canteen samosas We are proud that our Fridays have officially become the most beloved day of the week So, here's to Fridays, samosas, waiting for its frying times and queues to pick them up on the paper plate with chutney. Now we all here feel what is the use of weekend without the  unlimited samosas at the office?
