Stock level research report has been prevalent in Indian Stock Broking Industry for the longest time. Typical actions include Buy, Hold, Sell, Underweight, Overweight, Target Price, Target Price with Stop Loss, etc. Research models also largely revolve around Fundamentals and Technicals. Till today news channels call Stock Researchers for their calls around these themes. At Investor or Trader level, who suppose to look at these research reports and make Investing and Trading choices still have to track all these calls, build their own mental maps around what bought under long term or short term, identify how much money to put and also exit when those exit or underweight calls come. Here is the catch. Most of these Investors and Traders lacks product experiences to consume these research reports in a logical way to systematically create wealth. Also they will not act on all the calls provided by these research report providers and will put their own biases which stocks to enter and which not to enter. Also no systematic approach how much to allocate to specific stock. In the process, they build a portfolio from a selective set of stocks with multiple biases and in some cases build concentrated stocks portfolio. When we started working on building the WealthBasket Platform in 2016, we started looking at research regulations and current practices. We realized there is an opportunity to provide a powerful Research Construct to look at set of Stocks together combined in a scientific way and on Customer side, ability to Invest in these research powered WealthBaskets in a systematic and compliant way reducing all forms of biases that create impediments in Investor or Trader journey. It took us almost 3 years of building the Platform first to make sure research can be provided in a WealthBasket construct. But the challenge was where are the Researchers who are doing research for a group of stocks together. Globally, this is done powered by Quantitative research, other synonyms being Factor/Smart Beta is a very well practiced strategy to build portfolios. Most prevalent factors being Momentum, Quality, Value, Size, Yield and Market Cap. This brought another opportunity to build grounds up Quantitative Research based Platform and bring that research in form of WealthBaskets to start with. That led to launch of OpenQ with Sujit Modi. Today SharedotMarket integrates Quant Research powered WealthBasket on core Broking Platform & have set the foundation of building Intelligence layer on top of Broking starting with WealthBaskets in Direct Stocks and ETFs. The journey expands now to power more Intelligence led tools and offerings in Stocks and MFs. Also on F&O side bring powerful tools for Trading community. That is still a work in progress. We continue to get feed backs from our precious early customers who are evangelist more than Customers to get bolder in our vision to elevate Discount Broking by bringing Intelligence at scale.

WealthBaskets are here to ease your investment journey. These baskets of stocks and ETFs are curated by our WealthBasket curators, who are SEBI registered professionals. Are you curious how our curators are doing this heavy lifting? How do our curators create WealthBaskets? Step 1: Spotting the Investment Themes Curators look for investment themes that align with your financial goals. The investment themes include ideas, factors, sectors, industries, or geographical regions. For instance, WealthBaskets like Banking & Financial Services and Infra & Realty Gems are created using sector-specific investment themes. Step 2: Screening of Stocks and ETFs Post identifying the themes for the WealthBaskets,  next, they screen stocks and ETFs matching the investment theme. They screen for the growth potential and the risk involved in the underlying stocks and ETFs. Step 3: In-depth Research on the stocks and ETFs After rigorous screening of the stocks and ETFs, in-depth research is conducted on the selected stocks and ETFs to assess their growth potential. This analysis is done using financial statements, ratios, trends, historical price movement, factors, etc. Step 4: Construction of the WealthBasket The WealthBaskets are constructed by allocating a specific percentage of each selected stock or ETF. This percentage allocation is done by evaluating the securities’ risk and growth potential. Step 5: Continuous Monitoring of the WealthBaskets Curators regularly monitor the performance of the WealthBasket. This active monitoring allows for timely adjustments to the basket to ensure its alignment with each WealthBasket’s growth objective. #WealthBaskets #stockmarket #etfs #stocks #portfoliodiversification #investing #india

Everybody says to invest for the long term - but 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦? What is the minimum holding period which qualifies as long-term? Long enough so that the asset stops giving negative returns on a rolling basis. We used this logic to compute minimum holding periods for asset classes like equity, gold and debt in India. Here’s what you should know 👇 [1] 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭: If one asset has higher minimum holding period than the other, then there’s higher opportunity cost associated with it. This is because the investor is required to remain invested for a longer time, potentially missing out on other investment opportunities. [2] 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐬: Assets with a longer minimum holding period should ideally compensate investors with higher expected returns to justify the higher opportunity cost. [3] 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐬: If two assets have similar return profiles but different minimum holding periods, the asset with the shorter holding period is preferred. This allows investors to achieve similar returns with a lower opportunity cost. We use these principles to build WealthBaskets with precision based on our factor-based models. Trying to achieve similar/higher returns with a lower/same opportunity cost budget. #sharemarket #wealthbasket #india #investing #equity

India saved a whopping $2.7 billion by buying cheaper Russian oil in the first nine months of the year. Now, Russia is India's #1 oil source, beating out Iraq and Saudi Arabia. This big win has OPEC nations rethinking their 'Asian Premium' policy. What is Asian Premium? Asian Premium is an extra charge collected by OPEC countries from Asian buyers compared to Western buyers. It has been in place since the 1980s. Why is it charged? Asian countries are heavily dependent on oil imports and are essentially price-takers. This means that oil exporters have the upper hand in negotiations and can squeeze Asian importers while charging lower prices to their American and European counterparts. Additionally, Gulf states like Saudi Arabia supply a significant portion of their oil exports to the United States and Europe in order to maintain military and political support. This creates a pricing disparity known as the ‘North Atlantic Discount’. What is India’s stance on this? India has repeatedly called for the removal of the Asian Premium and has even proposed an ‘Asian Discount’ instead. India has also been diversifying its oil import sources in an effort to secure more cost-effective options. The Russia-Ukraine war has given India an opportunity to leverage its position and put pressure on OPEC to end the Asian Premium. How you may ask? After Russia declared war on Ukraine there was substantial pressure from the international community on India to stop importing crude from Russia. However, India continued to buy crude from Russia. In return Russia showed goodwill towards India and offered to sell its crude at a discounted price, thus reducing buying costs for India. What did Saudi Arabia do in response? As a countermeasure, Saudi Arabia has now reduced the Asian premium it charges on oil exports to India from $10 per barrel last year to $3.5 per barrel. How does this help Asian countries? The end of the Asian Premium would be a positive development for India and other Asian countries. It would lead to lower energy costs and boost economic growth. It would also reduce Asia's dependence on OPEC countries. Thus changing global oil dynamics and shifting the power balance from oil producers to oil consumers. #sharemarket #asianpremium #oilandgas #asian #opec #russia
