Security has been at the forefront of discussions at the past few KubeCons I’ve attended. It’s clear that businesses and organizations are increasingly focused on keeping their infrastructure as secure as possible. Security breaches aren't just caused by external factors; they can also result from internal misconfigurations. While VPNs play a role in limiting and securing access, the complexity of maintaining security grows as networks scale and integrate more resources. Kubernetes, for instance, offers features like RBAC, but configuring them within a Kubernetes cluster can be challenging. To navigate these challenges, many businesses turn to various VPN services on the market. However, traditional VPN setups often grant users access to the entire network, which can pose security risks. I've seen the Twingate team shipping a lot, always so busy because the landscape demands it. They provide a modern solution by leveraging zero trust principles, allowing businesses to implement more granular access control, enhance security, and improve user experiences without the overhead of traditional VPNs.

Developers, check this out: a programming language for the cloud that combines both infrastructure and application code. And it’s open source! I've been working at Civo for almost three years, where I regularly test various tools and applications for our marketplace. During this time, I've come across different tools that provide Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Be sure to check out my latest blog post, "Choosing the Right Tool for Your IaC Needs." Recently, I had a conversation with the folks at Wing. Their platform made creating basic cloud services an easy task for me. It also allows direct provisioning of the created services across different cloud providers using Terraform. Additionally, you can view all the created services in the Wing console by running the code locally, as shown in the screenshot below. What do you think? What tools are you using? Resources below 👇

As a developer, I find myself spending time on: 1. Endlessly scrolling to find that one piece of code 2. Switching between applications to refer to different resources 3. Looking up debugging commands I prefer using the CLI for most tasks, so I'm excited that you can now interact with Pieces OS through the command line. If you don't already know, Pieces for Developers is an on-device AI coding assistant that boosts developer productivity. Shoutout to them for collaborting with me. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to build a scalable AI-powered chatbot using video game data from Wikipedia. I’ll guide you through implementing semantic search and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) with SingleStore, shoutout to them for the collab, optimizing performance with vector indexes, and integrating OpenAI's GPT models to create an interactive, data-driven chat experience. 👉 Watch: https://lnkd.in/gTC8Wyn3 ✅ Sign up to SingleStore for free: https://lnkd.in/gZRPv2_V

"I want to contribute to open source, but I find it challenging to understand the large codebase!" This is a common issue people face when trying to contribute to open source projects. Here’s how to overcome this challenge: 1. Understand that you don't need to grasp the entire codebase to get started. Open source projects are typically divided into modules and packages, so a brief overview is enough for beginners. 2. Learn more about the project as you contribute. 3. Start with beginner-friendly issues. Additionally, in the era of AI, you can accelerate your learning and contributions by using tools like Pieces for Developers. For instance, here's a great example of how to contribute to Kubernetes using Pieces. I’ve included some resources in the comments below ⬇️

What’s the “best” programming language to start with? It’s a question I get quite often. The answer is: any. Once you become familiar with one language and its programming concepts, it becomes relatively easier to learn others. The development journey often requires knowledge of multiple languages, depending on the specific use case. In fact, several languages can sometimes work together within the same codebase. With the rise of AI, tools like Pieces for Developers, shoutout to them for the collaboration, can easily transform code snippets into different programming languages. Documentation is crucial, and this feature also generates notes that document the complete functionality of the code. It even allows me to save the generated code block as a snippet, keeping me organized and efficient in my coding tasks. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/g3Q5WfKg
