Lessons I learnt in 20 years, I’ll teach you in 3 minutes. Hi, Soan Papdi here. I am back with an important message to share. I don’t know how long I will stay relevant so here are my two cents straight from the heart. Save this post, because it’ll help you on the day you really need it. 1. Privilege - where you start in life affects your future. It’s called the genetic lottery. You could be born a Cashew (Kaju) or a Chickpea (Chana). That's the cards that were dealt to you. The earlier you accept it, the happier you’d be. Never blame your circumstances, you’d end up delaying action and that’s not going to help anyone. 2. Hard work - Be the most hard working person in the room. Every Soan Papdi is hand-made and goes through tedious and laborious processes. Even if you achieve success you’d never cherish it without the hard work. It’s not about the destination, it’s all about the journey. You can stand on the dias outside Mannat and enjoy the limitless view at Bandstand, Bandra only and only if you are SRK yourself. 3. Never Give up - At times you might question your existence but trust me on this, destiny changes one fine day. Your life story is all about prepping for that day and then you become an overnight success. 4. The Underdogs win. Always. - Have you ever seen a movie where the underdog lost? Do you remember Dangal, Lagaan, or Bhaag Milkha Bhaag? Or Chak de India where a team of talented but raw women’s team took the defending champions for a ride, against all odds. I have a joke that I keep telling my friends, I am Soan Papdi, Chakh le India. But I digress, lol! 5. Find your place - ‘Kehte hain khuda ne kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye’! Somebody out there loves you deeply. When people forward you, they are just sending you towards the person who’d value you. Remember every Soan papdi is eventually eaten. You have a true love who is somebody out there waiting at the perfect location at the perfect time. This one comes deep from the heart. Share and Forward this post, the very same way you’ve done with me 🫶

“One day I heard someone say, ‘Chee hattao isko,’ and then the next day someone said, ‘Dhatt! Yeh bhi koi dene ki cheez hoti hai?’ And then the insults didn’t stop, ‘Hume nahi chahiye yeh,’ & ‘Rakh do kone me, agli Diwali Bua ko de denge.’ With every hurtful word, I crumbled a little more. I didn't know what had gone wrong. Aapko pata hai ek zamaana tha when people couldn't have enough of me. Diwali ho ya Holi, I was a mainstay. I've been a part of countless celebrations and milestones. Mujhe har khushi me shamil kiya jata tha. Once a Dada ji said, ‘Tu chal mere saath, mere Guddu ke 75% aaye hai!’ I still remember the pride on his face and the joy on Guddu’s when he saw me… Ek baar toh Ramesh bhaiyya ne nayi scooter aane ke khushi me mujhe sab mei shaan se baata tha. And then there was that day when little Geeta bought her own house, usne pooja ke thaali me mujhe hi toh bhog pe chadhaya tha… Everywhere I went, people welcomed me with a big smile on their face and a glimmer in their eyes. And the person holding me… unhe toh hamesha hi badhaiya aur ashirwaad mili. I loved being a part of people’s happiest moments – unhe tarakki karte dekh, mera dil bhar jaata. But a decade ago, suddenly, everything changed. Whenever people saw who I was, their smiles would drop in disappointment. Families would ignore me… and then just give me away to the Bua or the Maami that no one liked! Anvi wouldn’t even ask how I was, and Ketan… he didn’t even check what colour I was. Even Ganesh in IT would see me during Diwali and say, ‘Yaar, HR ne phir se issey kyu bheja.’ I was very hurt. I just wanted to be a part of everyone’s happiness again… But people wouldn’t let me. Mai khud se to kuch nahi kar paya, but I’m not one to lose hope. I just bid my time – whether it was on a dusty mantle or in a dark kitchen corner. Aur pata hai, woh Shahrukh ji kehte hai na, ‘Agar kisi cheez ko shiddat se chaho…’ Maybe that is true. Kyuki kaynat ne meri sunn li when someone at Zepto picked me up and set out to ‘make Soan Papdi great again’ and I remembered wahi puraane wale din – the birthdays, the Diwalis and the graduations we celebrated together. Diwali's around the corner. Shayad mujhe dekh kar phir se gharo me khushi goonjegi aur log kahenge, ‘Arey waah, Soan Papdi aaya hai!’” — At Humans of Bombay, we’re all about celebrating stories. So when Zepto decided to humanize our beloved Soan Papdi–we had to jump in on it! Here’s to celebrating the Soan Papdi in our lives… one that sometimes feels defeated, but doesn't give up! #Partnership
