If you are a student or practising cryptography, privacy and security, this gentleman needs no introduction. If not, he is Dr Whit Diffie, the Diffie of Diffie-Hellman key exchange that changed how we communicate and transact on the internet. The very nature of security and privacy that we enjoy today is due to this man’s effort and labour of work. The list of contributions is endless. Unsurprisingly, Dr Diffie is a Turing Award Winner (read as the Nobel Prize for Computing) for his many contributions to the field of cryptography. I have enjoyed interacting with Dr Diffie for the last couple of years. His intellect is beyond par. The Indian IT and software services market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 8-10% over the next few years. How can we, as a higher educational institution, further this growth? Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) Inauguration | Batch of 2024-28 | Alliance University The Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Abhay Chebbi, discussed the university ecosystem and ambition as a driving force to solve real-world problems. He focused on the need for specializations and encouraged students to explore subjects beyond core areas, such as ethics and data privacy. He explained how this knowledge can help students contribute to society, transform industries, and engage with the latest technologies. He noted that the Indian gaming market will reach around $6 billion by 2028, urging students to seize opportunities. The CEO of Ziroh Labs, Mr. Hrishikesh Dewan, advised students to be true to themselves to solve problems effectively. He stressed the importance of identifying strengths and weaknesses, focusing on specializations, and developing ideas and solutions. Mr. Dewan encouraged students to focus on entrepreneurship in their subject matter, work hard, and enjoy the university ecosystem. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Priestly Shan Boaz, emphasized the importance of questioning and critically engaging with the material presented in class. Dr. Shan praised Mr. Dewan as an exemplary critical thinker and problem solver and urged students to recognize and develop their potential to disrupt the market by fostering innovative ideas and approaches. The Dean of Alliance College of Engineering and Design, Dr. Reeba Korah, explained the segregation between science, technology, engineering, and computer sciences. She used the example of semiconductors, transistors, processors, and computer sciences to illustrate her point. Dr. Korah stated the subject's relevance in the current era due to its versatility and numerous opportunities.
