MSMEs are the backbone of Maharashtra’s growth and job creation, driving self-reliance, innovation, and entrepreneurship,” said Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. He emphasized the critical role of MSMEs in shaping India's future while speaking at the 10th Edition of the #CIIWRMSME Summit and Exhibition 2024, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Nagpur on 28 September 2024. He also stressed the importance of MSMEs maturing into larger enterprises over the next decade, citing examples from advanced economies where large firms contribute significantly to employment. “For India to grow exponentially, we need more MSMEs to evolve into large firms. Advanced economies demonstrate that they tend to have a larger share of employment in large firms than other countries,” he noted. Addressing the forum, he also underscored the value of the CII MSME Summit in addressing the specific challenges faced by MSMEs, particularly in a rapidly changing economic and technological environment. “This Summit is designed with the needs of MSMEs in mind, navigating the demands of larger industries and ensuring MSMEs’ integration into their value chains,” he added. Minister Gadkari also reaffirmed that the development of the MSME sector is vital to fostering inclusive growth, thereby playing a pivotal role in India’s future.
