About us

CII Design is an Initiative of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). For the last 20 years, CII has been performing the role of India's strategic body for promoting and leveraging design towards sustainable economic growth. It has strenuously and diligently worked to demonstrate and promote the vital role of design in making businesses more competitive and public services more effective. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization, playing a proactive role in India's development process. Founded in 1895, India's premier business association has over 8000 members, from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 200,000 enterprises from around 240 national and regional sectoral industry bodies. Confederation of Indian Industry is keen to encourage design as a tool for business competitiveness and innovation through its National Committee on Design. Among the major initiatives of CII Design are: The CII Design Excellence Awards, acknowledge and celebrate Indian design and innovation. They strive to create new paradigms of design in India while promoting the unique amalgamation of traditional with contemporary design. In its endeavour to establish design as a tool for national competitiveness, CII initiated the "CII Design Excellence Awards" in 2011. The highest award in design has successfully entered the 10th year in 2020. CII Design Excellence Awards is endorsed by India Design Council and is supported by Design Intelligence Award and World Design Organization. CII India Design Summit is a flagship event being organized for the past over 20 years. The summit is a platform to create an enduring partnership between design and organizations leading to innovation and increased economic competitiveness. Just as large and small gears work together in harmony when designers work with organizations, they ignite innovation.
