It is a real pleasure to learn of the rich work of Deakin University and University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) in climate and health. There is so much to learn from each other and collaborate on. We at the PHFI Centre for Environmental Health are proud of our partnerships with academic, public and private institutions. Together we can make a large impact in solving some of the climate crisis and human health. We look forward to working together.
Today, Deakin University hosted the Climate Change & Health Round Table, a key event that brought together distinguished academic leaders and global experts to explore the critical intersection of climate change and public health. The discussions focused on the urgent need for collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches to address the growing health challenges posed by our changing environment. The event featured thought-provoking contributions from Professor David Austin, Associate Dean (International), Faculty of Health, who highlighted Deakin’s leadership in global health initiatives. Dr Mike Forrester and Professor Samantha Thomas offered critical insights into the health implications of climate change, while distinguished international speakers, including Professor Theis Lange and Professor Zorana Jovanovic Andersen from the University of Copenhagen, enriched the conversation with their global perspectives. Representatives from the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), including Sanjay Zodpey, Dr Raj Shankar Ghosh, and Dr Anish Sinha, also contributed to the discussions, bringing further depth to the conversation. Deakin University remains committed to advancing research, building global partnerships, and delivering practical solutions to address the health impacts of climate change. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) and all the other participants for their invaluable contributions to this pivotal discourse. Together, we are shaping a healthier, more sustainable future. Let's continue to do so. Deakin Research | Gayathri Vedanarayanan #DeakinUniversity #UCPH #PHFI #ClimateChange #HealthImpacts
