The stats in this post are sobering. We are living in VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) times, which means we are all vulnerable to distress. Now more than ever is the time to be kind, supportive and inclusive of all who are struggling with poor mental health, including ourselves. #mental #health Pride Cares

Mental health is important for everyone and goes beyond the workplace. By raising awareness and offering support, we can build a kinder and better workplace that’s inclusive and cares for everyone. Did you know that globally, 12 billion working days are lost each year due to depression and anxiety? That’s over $1 trillion in lost productivity! The National Mental Health Survey 2015–2016 showed that 150 million people in India needed mental disorder support, but fewer than 30 million are looking for care. And, we have fewer than 4,000 mental health professionals available to help. But that’s not all, 7.5% of people in India are dealing with mental disorders, which represent one-sixth of all health-related issues. To top it off, India carries nearly 15% of the global burden of mental, neurological, and substance abuse disorders. These statistics not only show us the seriousness of mental health issues but also serve as a call to action to take steps to do something. Every organization plays a critical role in the employee’s wellbeing. The first step is to talk about it.  Corporates can foster a culture of awareness, support, and resilience through dedicated training and mental health sessions. Let’s shine as a beacon of hope in creating safe spaces for everyone, prioritizing mental well-being so that everyone feels valued and supported. If you want to be a part of this important mission, contact the DEI team for sessions on mental health in the workplace.
