Budget 2023: India Will Set Up 157 Nursing Colleges To Eliminate 'Sickle Cell Anemia'; Find Out What It Is

The Union Budget 2023 is all over the news, with distinct allocations for each department in India. If you watch the complete presentation, you'll hear Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman talk about eliminating "sickle cells" by 2047.

Sickle cell anaemia is an inherited blood condition that affects the body's red blood cells. It is a type of blood illness known as sickle cell disease. RBCs undergo a transformation from round, flexible discs to rigid, sticky sickled cells as a result of the infection.

When this occurs, a person's body no longer produces enough red blood cells, and the affected individual becomes "anemic." It is a disorder where you don't have enough healthy red blood cells to adequately oxygenate the tissues in your body.

Since sickle cells harm the spleen and make people more susceptible to infections, people may have swelling in their hands and feet. When sickle cell anaemia is diagnosed, the patient should be aware that there is no known cure.
