The first presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump made several headlines, but the current President’s so called ‘poor performance’ in it has been attributed to some malpractices by conspiracy theorists.

Several reports mention that Biden had failed to impress in the first presidential debate against Trump. Words like ‘low-energy’ and ‘apparently sick,’ have been used to describe his appearance in the debate which had been organized at his beckoning.

However, conspiracy theorists believe that Biden’s dismal performance was not because of his age- or health-related issues but due to the use of ‘directed energy weapons.’

Such claims have been made on social media ever since the presidential debate aired, and are leading to extended conversations on the topic.

Biden and ‘directed energy weapons’ claim

Social media user Igor Sushko took to X (formerly Twitter) on late Sunday evening to write that Biden’s symptoms during the presidential debate were akin to those of a victim of ‘Havana syndrome.’

In his post on X, Sushko further said that the possibility of Biden suffering from Havana syndrome was conveyed to him by a former KGB (Russian) spy – who had defected to US in 1993.

Attributing the claims to the former KGB spy, Yuri Shvets, Sushko went on to state that a ‘directed energy beam’ may have been responsible for Biden’s lackluster show at the presidential debate.

“Yuri Shvets said his source told him an energy beam could be precisely directed toward a person’s brain from a significant distance, and calibrated to cause the kind of milder symptoms, relatively speaking, exhibited by Biden during the debate,” Sushko’s post read.

Shvets, allegedly, has also claimed that a Russian IL-76 government plane which came to US just a day before the debate and left soon after also had some role to play in the part.

He also posted videos of Biden’s appearance a day before and after the presidential debate in which the President seems to be speaking and managing the crowd well.

Other accounts on X and other platforms also hinted at something fishy happening to Biden at the event, according to a report by Gizmodo.

More specifically, the users pointed towards a possible use of ‘directed energy weapons’ against Biden, to hurt his performance at the presidential debate.

Havana Syndrome

For the unaware, Havana Syndrome is an unexplained medical condition reported by U.S. and Canadian government officials and military personnel primarily stationed overseas. First reported at the American Embassy in Havana, Cuba, symptoms range from severe headaches to ringing in the ears.

In the worst cases, reported sufferers even reported extreme cognitive dysfunction. Since around 2017, more individuals, including U.S. intelligence and military personnel and their families, have also reported Havana Syndrome-like symptoms. They have also been stationed in various regions such as China, India, Europe, and Washington, D.C.

While previous investigations had suggested that no foreign powers were to blame, the new investigation contradicts this conclusion. However, their assessment of “anomalous health incidents” (AHIs)— delivered last year— did not offer any alternative explanation.

During last year’s NATO summit in Lithuania, a senior defense department official reported symptoms resembling Havana syndrome. Around 1,000 cases of the mysterious ailment have been reported, with dozens of cases still unexplained. Legislation has been passed to support victims.

A recent study by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) did not find evidence of brain injuries in U.S. personnel who reported AHIs through MRI scans.

While there has long been a suspicion that those affected were hit by directed energy or microwaves fired from hidden devices, little direct or indirect evidence has come to the fore.

However, a new Insider et al. investigation suggests that a specific Russian military intelligence unit could be the cause.

Dubbed Unit 29155, the unit may have targeted the brains of U.S. diplomats with “directed energy” weapons. There is evidence that places members of this unit in cities around the world when U.S. personnel report incidents.

Moreover, Russia has been accused multiple times of interfering in US elections and supporting a specific candidate. However, Kremlin has always denied it has any role to play in the US’ internal matters.
