✅ The Value of Academic Research

مشاهده نمایه برای ‏Dr. Blessing Osaro-Martins‏

PhD in Economics of Education || Researcher || Writer || Licensed Teacher || Consultant || Author || Educational Management || Social Sciences

Steps on how to link the introduction of a research to the research objectives, with examples Step 1: Identify the Research Problem In the introduction, clearly state the research problem or issue that the study aims to address. E.g. "The increasing prevalence of obesity among children is a major public health concern. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of overweight children under the age of 5 has increased from 32 million in 1990 to 41 million in 2016." Step 2: Provide Background Information Provide some background information on the research problem, including its significance, relevance, and context. E.g. "Obesity in childhood is a significant predictor of obesity in adulthood, and is associated with a range of serious health problems, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain types of cancer. Despite the growing body of research on this topic, there is a need for further investigation into the causes and consequences of childhood obesity." Step 3: State the Research Gap Clearly state the research gap or knowledge gap that the study aims to address. E.g. "While there is a growing body of research on the relationship between parental feeding practices and childhood obesity, there is a need for further investigation into the specific strategies that parents can use to promote healthy eating habits in their children." Step 4: Introduce the Research Objectives Introduce the research objectives by stating what the study aims to achieve or investigate. E.g. "The objectives of this study are to: 1. Investigate the relationship between parental feeding practices and childhood obesity. 2. Examine the impact of parental feeding practices on children's eating habits and weight status. 3. Identify effective strategies for promoting healthy feeding practices among parents of young children." Step 5: Link the Research Objectives to the Research Problem Link the research objectives to the research problem by explaining how the objectives will address the problem or gap. E.g. "By achieving these objectives, this study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between parental feeding practices and childhood obesity, and to identify effective strategies for promoting healthy feeding practices among parents of young children. This knowledge can be used to inform the development of interventions and policies aimed at reducing the prevalence of childhood obesity." Step 6: Ensure Alignment between Introduction and Objectives Ensure that the introduction and research objectives are aligned and consistent. E.g. "The introduction and research objectives are aligned and consistent, as they both focus on the relationship between parental feeding practices and childhood obesity. The research objectives clearly state what the study aims to achieve, and the introduction provides a clear context and background for the research objectives." ... general example in comment 🔃 #teaching #research
