Mr. Eirikur Bragason, COO of Arctic Green, participated in a panel with other experts at the Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit, held on September 19-20. The discussion focused on the opportunities and challenges in geothermal power generation. Mr. Bragason emphasized Iceland's expertise in geothermal energy, noting that direct heating solutions for households present lower risks, higher profitability, and greater environmental benefits compared to conventional geothermal power generation methods. He also discussed Arctic Green’s global expansion, highlighting its joint venture in China with Sinopec Green Energy.

Gabor Molnar, Managing Director of Arctic Green Engineering Services, spoke at the Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit highlighting that #geothermal energy represents stability and affordability in an ocean of energy options.

Arctic Green proudly participated in the Mongolian Delegation Study Tour in Reykjavik, exchanging ideas on Sustainable Energy, and Financial Strategies. Our CEO, Sigurdur Atli Jonsson, highlighted the export of Icelandic geothermal expertise and its potential for Mongolia's energy future. The delegation included key figures from the Office of the President, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, National Energy Center and major financial institutions.

Geothermal energy is booming in Central and Eastern Europe! It was a pleasure to attend the 5th Iceland Geothermal Conference 2024 at Harpa in Reykjavík, organized by the Iceland Renewable Energy Cluster. In my closing ceremony speech I emphasised the importance of cooperation and partnerships between the various stakeholders in the energy transition. Cities are our key customers. They use over two thirds of the world’s energy and cities will continue to grow and densify. The need for heating and cooling for cities is on a high growth trajectory and if the geothermal industry wants to play a meaningful role in the energy transition it must be able to provide solutions that work in densely populated cities. We started in smaller cities which was as sensible approach (we transformed Xiongxian, a city of 390.000 people to a clean heating smog free city in 2014) but are moving into bigger cities. Currently the largest city where we are operating is Tianjin in China with a population of 14,5 million and population density of one thousand and three hundred people per square kilometre. There are also other important growth areas where geothermal can play an important role, such as cooling, desalination and food production. Arctic Green Energy will continue to build on its successful partnership in China, with growth focus on the market for heating and cooling, utilizing medium-to-deep and shallow geothermal as a backbone for integrated multi-energy solutions (Geothermal+). We are also selectively building our project portfolio outside China in markets that meet our criteria and where we can build on effective partnerships to create robust business models with prime focus on heating, cooling, other direct applications for geothermal, and integrated multi-energy solutions.
