🌍 Collaborating for a Climate-neutral Europe 🌱 “The EEA Agreement allows us to build value chains across borders and contribute to climate recovery together,” says Carbfix CEO Edda Aradottir. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a crucial piece of the puzzle in the EU’s journey towards climate neutrality. Norwegian 🇳🇴 and Icelandic 🇮🇸 companies are leading the way with cutting-edge projects and technologies. Without the CCS potential offered by Iceland and Norway, the EU won’t meet its ambitious climate targets. This is why collaboration within the EEA is more important than ever. For 30 years, the EEA EFTA States have participated fully in the EU internal market, shaping a future where sustainability and innovation know no borders. 🎥 Discover more on the #EEA30Years anniversary website. 👇 https://lnkd.in/e3jA-Ft4 #CCS #EEA #InternalMarket #EU #EFTA #carboncapture #sustainabledevelopment #iceland #norway #eurelations

Excited to see the iconic Carbfix injection well shelter, Borholuhús, proudly displayed in front of Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavík! As part of the 2024 Arctic Circle Assembly, this eye-catching installation symbolizes the fragile state of the Arctic and serves as a platform to showcase Carbfix’s pioneering work in turning CO₂ into stone through its mineralization technology. Designed by the visionary architect Einar Þorsteinn Ásgeirsson, the igloo-shaped shelter embodies the intersection of creativity and climate action. Einar Þorsteinn, known for his belief in human ingenuity as a tool to build a better world, created this innovative structure, which has been featured in major media outlets, including Bill Gates' Netflix series What’s Next?, CBS's 60 Minutes, and the cover of National Geographic. By placing the "Borholuhús" in front of one of Iceland's most iconic cultural venues Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, Carbfix aims to bring the message of sustainability to the forefront of public attention. This installation isn't just a visual statement—it represents the critical need for innovative climate solutions like Carbfix's mineralization technology, reminding us of the urgency to act on climate change. Additionally, a special musical performance by the choir Kliður, held inside the Borholuhús, will merge art and science to inspire meaningful action on climate change. “Bringing design together with climate technology solutions can serve as a bridge to welcoming the portfolio of solutions required to meet global climate goals. As we scale up, it will be inevitable that all clean energy and climate solutions will interface with communities. Carbfix is an example that demonstrates we have the choice to do so in a meaningful and impactful way.” — Jennifer Wilcox, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Energy Policy, University of Pennsylvania “We don’t usually talk about design elements in the climate field, but it can be powerful in communicating and engaging with communities as we deal with invisible gas.” — Yuki Sekiguchi, Maximizing Climate Impact. Carbfix Receives Icelandic Innovation Award 2024! 🏆🌟 We are honored to announce that Carbfix has been awarded the Icelandic Innovation Award 2024 for our pioneering work in the development and commercialization of Carbfix technology. This award is a testament to the dedication and innovation of our team and partners, who have worked tirelessly to make Carbfix a global leader in climate solutions. Since our first pilot project in 2012, we’ve mineralized over 100,000 tons of CO₂, contributing to climate recovery. The opportunities for climate innovation are vast, and we remain committed to advancing our technology—such as using seawater instead of freshwater for CO₂ mineralization—to make carbon mineralization even more efficient and scalable. Special thanks to Rannís - The Icelandic Centre for Research, Business Iceland, and Hugverkastofan - Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO) for this recognition. https://lnkd.in/dETZ26Zu Orkuveitan #Carbfix #Innovation #ClimateAction #CO2Storage #CCS #Sustainability #GreenTech #InnovationAward #Iceland #Mineralization

Carbfix injection well has safely landed at the Arctic Circle in front of Harpa Concert Hall where it will be displayed during the assembly 🙌 The "Holutopphús" was designed by the renowned architect and visionary Einar Þorsteinn Ásgeirsson, who believed that human ingenuity can build a better world. The shelter has been used in relation to geothermal utilization for decades, but has in recent years become the symbol of the Carbfix mineralization technology through extensive media coverage, including Bill Gates' Netflix series What's Next?, CBS’s 60 Minutes, and even on the cover of the National Geographic magazine. This innovative structure of Einar Þorsteinn’s design reminds us of the significant role of green tech solutions to contribute to climate recovery. We invite all attendees to visit our installation and join the discussion on how Carbfix’s mineralization technology is helping to transform carbon emissions into stone, providing a tangible path toward climate recovery. As the world races to limit global temperature rises to 1.5°C, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies are proving essential. According to the IPCC, reaching net zero is not achievable through emissions cuts alone; CCS plays a crucial role. Carbfix is proud to be a part of this global effort, turning captured CO2 into stone deep underground through our innovative mineralization process. With projects like Norway’s Longship and growing international investments in CCS, we’re seeing a powerful push towards scalable solutions. The path to a low-emission future requires collaboration, investment, and innovation—and we’re committed to doing our part. #ClimateAction #CCS #NetZero #Carbfix #CarbonCapture #Sustainability
