We’re always looking for more ways to connect you with the world, and that’s why we partner with like-minded airlines that share our passion and commitment. Icelandair and Southwest have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to initiate a bilateral partnership in 2025 that will allow customers to easily connect between the two airlines’ networks. A lot of work goes into the arrival of a new fleet member – especially when it’s the first Airbus to join our fleet! TF-IAA rolled out of the Airbus paint shop in Hamburg yesterday, dressed in its new Icelandair livery. Next up: installing engines and seats. We’ll take delivery of the aircraft in November, and we’re excited to welcome a total of four new Airbus to our fleet by summer 2025.

We’re pleased to share that July was a record-breaking month for us, transporting 610,000 passengers 📈

In July, we at Icelandair saw an 8% increase in the number of passengers and a record number for one month. Despite a reduction in passenger demand to Iceland we achieved a load factor increase compared to July last year. This shows how we have used the flexibility of our route network to put increased focus on via passengers compared to last year, when demand to Iceland was stronger. We are very pleased to see continued great on-time performance, which is thanks to a strong focus and the outstanding work of the Icelandair team. https://bit.ly/46FkiFV

This week we celebrated Reykjavík’s Pride week with our annual Pride Flight, connecting Keflavík with Copenhagen on Tuesday. Aboard the flight was a crew of LGBTQ+ community members and allies, including Miss Agatha P, a cabin crew member who brought their fabulous drag alter-ego along for the rainbow-fueled ride. It’s always a joy to serve cupcakes and treats to our passengers, and to celebrate diversity and inclusiveness – themes that truly express the spirit of Iceland. We’re proud to be part of a community that values and supports equality, and today and every day we fly with Pride. Happy 25th anniversary to Reykjavík Pride, and happy Pride week to everyone! There’s a lot to love about the Icelandic summer, including long days, misty waterfalls, and cute puffin visitors. One of our favorite summer features is the new faces in our cabin crew. We’re happy to welcome new recruits to the Icelandair team, and we thank them – and their veteran colleagues – for their dedication to making our summer flights run smoothly!

2024: the numbers so far ✈️

View profile for Bogi Bogason, graphic

Chief Executive Officer at Icelandair Group

This morning, we published the Traffic Data for June. Icelandair transported 514 thousand passengers, a 1% decrease compared to June 2023. Year-to-date, Icelandair has transported two million passengers, 7% more than last year. There has been a notable change in our passenger mix, the number of via passengers increased by 15% in June, while the number of passengers traveling to Iceland decreased between years. This clearly shows the flexibility of Icelandair’s route network, which offers the possibility of switching the focus from one market to another as demand shifts. On-time performance is a very important contributing factor in the increased positive feedback we have been receiving and we are very pleased to see continued great on-time performance, which is thanks to a strong focus and the outstanding work of the Icelandair team.
