✨ New interview! Research scientist Alex Pagnozzi works on a fascinating aspect of our Project: in the clinical studies he uses advanced AI tecniques for the study of brain injuries. The ability of AINCP people to build bridges between different disciplines is what allows our project to successfully take advantage from the multidisciplinary approach. AINCP is a Digital Health project to benefit children with Cerebral Palsy, funded by the European Union
Chi siamo
AINCP is a Digital Health project funded by the European Union and led by University of Pisa. AINCP stands for "Artificial Intelligence in Cerebral Palsy". We use the latest scientific results to develop a Personalised Medicine approach for the benefit of Children with Unilateral Cerebral Palsy. Our project aims to develop evidence-based clinical Decision Support Tools for personalised functional diagnosis, Upper Limb assessment and home-based intervention for children with UCP, by developing, testing and validating trustworthy Artificial Intelligence and cost-effective strategies. Unilateral Cerebral Palsy is the most common neurological chronic disease in childhood with a significant burden on children, their families and health care system.

We are happy to share some images from last week Internet Festival in Pisa and San Faustino Open Day in Pontedera where the team from our partner Istituto di Biorobotica, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna was engaged with the public to present the most innovative applications stemming from their research work. Of course #artificialintelligence was in the focus and the role of sensors used by AINCP was also explained among the several projects. To know more about their work #staytuned we will publish more soon on our blog #EUfunded #Innovation #innovativedesign #AIinMedicine #sensorychallenges

Prof. Giuseppina Sgandurra received the Lamberto Piron Prize last week in Padua for new technologies in neurorehabilitation for neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities. Her research areas are new approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of motor development disorders, neuroimaging applied to child neurology and randomized studies. Beyond the AINCP project, which aims to develop AI-based clinical tools to help functional diagnosis and tele-rehabilitation of the upper limbs in children with unilateral cerebral palsy, there are other studies coordinated by her with her staff, such as the Fit4 Medical Robotics, the results of which were presented in Padua, concerning a new rehabilitation model with robots and technologies. Prof. Giuseppina Sgandurra was in Belgium for the academic Symposium “Hot Topics in Cerebral Palsy” with the experts from the Belgian Cerebral Palsy Reference Centers (BeCPR). AINCP was presented with the “New technologies and rehabilitation frontiers in CP”. This was a great opportunity to announce that the enrolling of children and adolescents has started in Belgium for the AINCP Observational Study that will take place at KU Leuven Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, with the collaboration of the family association CpInfo Be and UZ Leuven. All interested families will find more information on our website (see link in the first comment) including the contact details of the Belgian team, first contact with Dra. Alexandra Kalkantzi. Sunday 6th October we celebrate World Cerebral Palsy Day. This year theme is #UniquelyCP. In Italy don't miss the "Festival Impaziente" organised by FightTheStroke.org. Prof. Giuseppina Sgandurra will answer children's questions. The Festival will be held online and all details are available below at the link in the first comment. In the words of FightTheStroke #UniquelyCP because "No two people with Cerebral Palsy are the same, just as the outcome and extent of a brain injury are difficult to predict: their condition can vary from a weakness of strength in one hand to an almost total lack of voluntary movement on all four limbs". #cerebralpalsykids #CerebralPalsyAlliance #cerebralpalsyawareness #WorldCerebralPalsyDay #worldcpday
