Chi siamo
Atelier Riforma is an Italian innovative social startup, with the mission of reducing the environmental impact of the fashion industry, by promoting its transition towards a more circular model. It is complex to efficiently convey (pre- and post-consumer) textile waste to circular processes, infact to date 87% of it ends up in landfills, mostly exported to developing countries. The two co-founders (Elena Ferrero and Sara Secondo) started in 2019 with a social project on upcycling discarded clothing and, since 2021, they have given a technological breakthrough to the startup, designing and patenting Re4Circular. Re4Circular is an innovative technology that helps any entity who has deadstock or used textiles to direct each item towards the best form of recovery (e.g. reuse, recycling, upcycling, etc.), according to its characteristics and conditions. It is composed by an AI-based classification and digitization technology and a digital platform linked to the circular fashion world (and not only!) that allows to maximize the residual value of any material, making B2B supply and demand meet efficiently.

As we move further into our waste stream series, we explore textile waste as a growing challenge in today’s fashion driven world. Each year, millions of tons of clothing and fabric end up in landfills or incinerated. The environmental impact is massive, with textiles contributing to pollution, resource depletion and carbon emission. However, textile waste could be transformed into resources! ✔ Fabrics can be recycled into new garments and repurposed for other uses like insulation or upholstery; ✔ Remember to upcycle! Old clothes can be creatively redesigned into new, unique pieces; ✔ Support clothing take-back programs where old clothes are collected and repurposed. By focusing on textile reuse, recycling, and responsible production, we can reduce waste and promote a sustainable future. Stay tuned for more on waste streams and circular solutions. Startups like Atelier Riforma, BCome., dimpora®, NOOSA™ and TrusTrace are all playing a role in making this sector more sustainable. Check them out! 🔧[OUR SOLUTIONS] 🔓 "We need to improve the reuse of products, well before those become #waste". Torino's journey on CLIMABOROUGH started from this statement that is going well beyond a simple slogan as today the city (cc torinoeuprojects I Torino City Lab) launched the solutions selected by our #tender. Actually, those solutions perfectly fit with the city experimental strategy of the city, as explained by the Deputy Mayor and chair of the press conference Chiara Foglietta: "𝐼𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑠𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑡𝑜𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑠 𝑎 𝑐𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒-𝑛𝑒𝑢𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑦, 𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑧𝑒𝑛𝑠 𝑎𝑑𝑜𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑏𝑒ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑜𝑟𝑠 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦 𝑎 𝑓𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑒𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠. ". This event saw also the participation of the President of AMIAT SpA Torino, the public company managing the waste for the municipality, Paola Bragantini that declared: "𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑠, 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑣𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑝𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑒𝑙𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑤𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑇𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑛 𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑎". The two consortia that will work with the city and AMIAT on very ambitious experimentations around #circularity on #WEEE and #textile are: 👉 Rivestito (Mercato Circolare I Atelier Riforma I Huulke) aims to make the collection of textile products in the city of Turin transparent and efficient and to direct them towards the most suitable methods of valorization, encouraging a local virtuous circle of circular economy. 👉 TRACCIA-TO (Erion I ReLearn I ERICA - Educazione Ricerca Informazione Comunicazione Ambientale) aims to raise awareness among citizens and businesses about good circular practices and correct waste disposal methods. The project will provide the City with an innovative methodology to quantify the flows of textile waste produced in the area, also intercepting those disposed in unsorted waste or forgotten in closets. Traccia-TO will also deal with the management of #WEEE, quantifying the flows of small devices to improve collection strategies. And if you speak italian (or you have a good translator), here a nice article about it: https://lnkd.in/eawQJcWM #CLIMABOROUGH #SmartCities #HorizonEU #EUMissions #CitiesMission #roadto2030 #climateaction #climateneutraleu Matteo Satta I Besnik Mehmeti I Energy Cities I Anci Toscana I Torino Urban Lab I Chiara Lucchini I Sebastián Oviedo I Simona Aronica I Laura Ribotta I CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency I Yannick Bousse I Laura Hetel I Fondazione LINKS I Enrico Ferro I UP2030 HE I Re-Value Cities I NetZeroCitiesEU I Nadia Lambiase I Elena Ferrero

Finally we can announce one of the greatest achievements of Atelier Riforma since its founding. A press conference, chaired by Councillor for Ecological Transition Chiara Foglietta, was held today at the Palazzo Civico in Turin to present the EU call for proposals CLIMABOROUGH and the 2 winning projects for the city of Turin (which were awarded a total of 300,000 euros). Climaborough is a project, coordinated by Anci Toscana and funded by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency and the European Union as part of the “100 Climate neutral and Smart Cities” mission, in which the City of Turin is directly involved, along with 12 other cities across the EU. We are delighted to tell you that one of the two winning projects is our own, “RiVestiTO,” designed together with partner companies Mercato Circolare and Huulke. What we will do? We will monitor the collection and management of used textiles in the entire city of Turin and help the entities that deal with this to direct them to the most suitable ways of recovery (donation, reuse, upcycling, recycling, etc.), trying to foster a virtuous circle of circular economy as local as possible. We will provide our Re4Circular technology (with new features made by Huulke) to all the entities that collect used textiles in the city, and citizens will be able to use Mercato Circolare app to learn about all the circular activities and initiatives in the city. No change happens with technology alone, however, but social activation is also needed: that's why there will be widespread citizen engagement towards responsible consumption practices... we will tell you all the details in the coming months! We will have a whole year to test the solution that, if it develops well in Turin, can be replicated in the other EU cities involved. We are full of enthusiasm for this unique opportunity and look forward to proving that a truly circular economy is possible!
