Tap into the $30 Billion Biodegradable Polymers Market! The biodegradable polymers market is projected to reach $30 billion by 2028. Embracing this shift boosts brand perception and aligns with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and European Union Green Deal. However, many current options lack the durability and flexibility of traditional plastics and often don’t biodegrade as intended. That's why we introduced BioCir®: Our proprietary biobased and biodegradable thermoplastic which offers the durability and flexibility of conventional plastics while fully decomposing in a controlled compost environment, leaving no waste or negative impact. Associate Lecturer BA (Hons) Fashion: Design and Accessories; Senior Footwear Designer; Sustainability and circular design process; Bespoke Brand Consultancy; Footwear start-up mentor; Zero waste shoe and sandal maker.
Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting incredibly talented multidisciplinary artist, designer, and pioneer in 3D-printed footwear, Zulu Kuki who generously shared their expertise with a lecture for our BA (Hons) Fashion: Design and Accessories students at JCA | London Fashion Academy. The presentation was enormously inspiring. Showcasing his innovative, and visionary creative approach, he talked about the potential, challenges and benefits of 3-d printing and emerging technologies and materials. Printing entire wearable footwear in flexible TPU, we saw how future production can occur at micro factory scale, close to the consumer and created on a pair by pair basis. By using the bio-based and compostable material developed by Balena we saw how truly sustainable modern footwear is in reach. If you haven’t had the fortune to see their work, take a look. The future is now.
