So taking advantage of the official birthday celebration of His Majesty King Charles III 🇬🇧🤴🏼 (a Public Holiday in the British Virgin Islands) to make an official announcement 🤩
🌟 Beyond excited to Announce the Launch of Women in Crypto (“WIC”) - Coffee Talks! 🌟☕️
I'm thrilled to share that I've founded a group dedicated to bringing together experienced (and not so experienced too) women in crypto and digital assets space. This idea originated from a catch up call over Teams with my dear friend Nia Statham a crypto asset recovery lawyer in the Cayman Islands. We were discussing the challenges we face as women in the crypto space, especially in the Caribbean, and felt the need for a supportive community.
As a woman, Latina, and minority in various social circles, I often find myself struggling to be heard, validated, and integrated into conversations that drive meaningful changes in our community. I feel committed to creating spaces where all individuals feel empowered, supported, and valued, regardless of background or identity.
Our group, WIC-Coffee Talks, is a place where we can:
- Share ideas and experiences
- Navigate the unique challenges of the crypto space and
- Empower and validate each other’s voices
We regularly meet over a virtual call every month to discuss several interesting topics that are trendy in the crypto space. These meetings lead to very insightful discussions and conversations.
The reason we call it Coffee Talks is that we wanted to create a very informal environment where our members feel free to share whatever they need to, not just about crypto. Our primary aim is to educate and learn about crypto trends and support each other in the crypto space, but it's also a circle where we can be ourselves as women and discuss other challenges we face, all over a cup of coffee ☕️
While our focus is on the Caribbean region, we welcome women from all over the world to join us. Everyone is welcome!
Today was our second meeting, and our dear Nia Statham brilliantly discussed the legal and regulatory challenges of tracing and recovering digital assets. Her presentation was insightful and technically detailed, allowing us to understand the implications sorrounding the loss of digital assets and next steps on how we should navigate assisting our clients in this kind of situations.
Lastly, I would like to thank our members for believing in my vision and joining me in this initiative:
