Splitting payments for transactions may not always be straightforward. Edge cases can occur and depending on the scenario, the payment can be divided between multiple buyers, multiple sellers, or both. Marketplaces are a typical example. Here are three quick examples of splitting payments: 1️⃣ Marketplace payments – A buyer creates a cart with items from different vendors. One payment at checkout, but the order and the payment are split among the vendors, plus any marketplace platform charges. The payment is split even more as each vendor pays a portion. 2️⃣ Third-party seller – A third party seller makes the sale and is eligible to receive a commission. Also, affiliate marketers and sellers may make a sale through their digital property and earns a commission. 3️⃣ Multiple buyers – A single buyer can split payment across multiple cards or payment methods. Or, a group splits a bill, like a check at a restaurant or groups who buy a gift for a friend. Your commerce platform should help you solve for edge cases for splitting payments. In Commerce Layer’s case, we support adding any custom payment gateway that offers multiple payments logic. The payment is treated as an atomic transaction and the custom gateway determines how payments are split and how refunds are processed. A custom payment gateway operates as an independent microservice and can be modeled with any business logic, while Commerce Layer ensures consistency as if it were a standard gateway. Read more from Filippo Conforti‘s latest blog post to get the entire list of edge cases. If you have any questions, please comment. https://lnkd.in/eEu5aNsa

At Commerce Layer, we have several layers in our technology stack, each of which consumes the layer below. Our developer team dog foods the entire stack of code starting at the API level to bring the most cutting edge software to market. Our SDK is built on our top of our API. Our React Components are built using our SDKs. The next layer includes low code solutions like our Apps and Micro Frontends. And then the final no-code layer includes Links and our Dashboard. Coming very soon, we will launch a new no-code product built on Links that is built on the exact same underlying Commerce Layer API. Stay tuned for the Links product, but dive into more from Filippo Conforti in his recent blog post: https://lnkd.in/daWcxKzr

Dynamic pricing sparks a lot of new ideas on how to apply AI to ecommerce. Every global enterprise wrestles with different price lists per market, shifting demand, and varying stock levels. All of these items and more impact the price at which you sell a product. Filippo Conforti touches on these topics in his most recent post at Commerce for Devs. He also links to a dynamic pricing example our Head of Solutions Engineering Fabrizio Picca created and blogged about on the Commerce Layer blog. Read Filippo's piece below. https://lnkd.in/e_FyAH9q
