We’re incredibly proud to 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 with Meta, marking a major milestone for Covision Media and our team! 💪 Meta and Meta Reality Labs just released the world’s largest and highest-quality 3D object model dataset for 3D reconstruction—the 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴 (𝗗𝗧𝗖). 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 - everyday items like kitchen utensils and toys - 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗼𝗳-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟯𝗗 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀.  The ambitious goal is to bridge the data gap in 3D, democratize 3D digital twin creation and pave the way for researchers and developers to use the DTC as a training set for their 3D AI developments. Making 3D reconstruction robust and efficient is the most important step that the computer vision community can take today. 🎯 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 ✅ The DTC is the world’s largest and highest-quality 3D object model dataset for 3D reconstruction research.  ✅ For most applications, the digital twin needs to be indistinguishable from the real object in its visual characteristics. The scanned objects in the dataset therefore have extremely accurate geometry down to the sub-millimeter level and materials with textures and light reflectivity that look just like the real object.  ✅ This technology will democratize digital twin creation, fostering innovation across various future applications and uses.
