    On Thursday, October 10th, we attended TTG Travel Experience - ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP, Italy's largest tourism exposition, held in Rimini. Being there as DoubleP, we aimed to introduce ourselves to key players in the travel and tourism sector, exploring their needs and challenges—especially around payments. Engaging face-to-face with professionals in the sector is the quickest way for us to gather valuable insights and tailor our communication strategies accordingly. On top of that, it was incredible to see such a vast array of Italian companies, many of which we hadn’t even known about before. P.S. we couldn’t help but dream of a business trip to the Maldives…🏝️

    DoubleP isn’t about quiet or conventional kick-offs! On October 7th and 8th, we teamed up with Intergic in Valpolicella and stayed in a beautiful Palladian villa set among the vineyards. The focus? Formalizing our partnership. But before diving into business, tastings of Amarone and Recioto wines were a priority. Then we got hands-on in the kitchen, preparing a locally inspired menu featuring meat, mushrooms and wine, with a homemade tiramisu as a finisher. After dinner, things took an unexpected turn with dancing, more “traditional” games and less conventional ones, like the spaghetto run (harder than expected). It was an unusual yet extremely fun mix (like our team) of activities set in an amazing location. So…where to next?

    On Tuesday, October 8th, the DoubleP team attended the event "I pagamenti digitali in Italia nel 2024" at the Politecnico di Milano. It was a great opportunity to hear from professionals within our industry and gain insights from perspectives that differ from our own! Here are four key takeaways from the event: 1️⃣ Customer behavior is shifting: After years of promoting card usage, customers are now increasingly requesting card payments. Moreover 1 out of 4 card payments is a micro-payment, with 35% of transactions ranging between €10 and €30. 2️⃣ Soft POS is gaining momentum: Once primarily appealing to small merchants, Soft POS technology is now attracting larger companies. It's no longer a niche solution, with 60 Soft POS offers currently available from European banks. 3️⃣ Improved transparency: The "Protocollo d'Intesa" has pushed for greater transparency in POS fees and commissions, which has encouraged more payments under €10. However, there’s still a significant need for better financial education for merchants. 4️⃣ A2A payments are on the rise: If you missed our slides, be sure to check them out on our LinkedIn profile! Instant Payments (and e-money) are expected to make up 30% of the payment market by 2028. The solution showcased at the event was Trustly, and we are proud to represent its Italian business unit.
