Fusion can provide the Earth with a new safe, almost unlimited, and CO2-free energy. Fusion is the ideal complement to renewable energies to complete the basket of eco-friendly technologies for future global energy needs. DTT, Divertor Tokamak Test facility, is a fusion experiment under construction at the Frascati ENEA Research Center. DTT plays a leading role in fusion research, the main aim being to explore alternative solutions for the extraction of the heat generated by the fusion process.

    𝗗𝗧𝗧 𝗡𝗯𝟯𝗦𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 Today, 24 October 2024, a new call for tender for the supply of 18,400 kg of Nb3Sn strand with chromium coating and of 6.250 kg of Copper wires with chromium coating for the manufacture of CS and PF1 conductors has been published. The procurement of these strands is necessary for the fabrication of the cable in conduit conductors of the central solenoid and of the poloidal field coil 1, whose procurement is also about to be launched. The total duration of the contract for the two lots will be, at most, 140 weeks from the Kick-off Meeting (KoM). The bidders will have time up to 05/12/2024 23:59 (CET) to present their offers. The deadline for the request of clarifications is 25/11/2024 12:00 (CET). This event serves as a fundamental platform where science meets industry, fostering collaboration and innovation. The BSBF 2024 is a significant occasion to bring together researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore the future of the Big Science market. The collaboration between Trieste and the Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia has been instrumental in ensuring the success of this event, showcasing the region's commitment to scientific advancement and industrial growth. At the opening of the event, Minister Antonio Tajani - in remote connection - emphasized: "We wish for a Europe that is a leader in science, and we work for the growth of Italian companies and the well-being of our citizens." This sentiment underscores the importance of initiatives like BSBF in driving forward our collective goals in science and technology. The President of ENEA: Gilberto Dialuce, the President of Friuli Venezia Giulia: Massimiliano Fedriga, and institutional representatives of politics and science gave their warm welcome to all the participants. Prof. Francesco Romanelli had an important talk on the state of art of DTT - Divertor Tokamak Test facility.     La comunità del DTT Divertor Tokamak Test facility è in lutto per la scomparsa di Vincenzo Vitale, Responsabile ICT, deceduto stanotte dopo una dura battaglia contro una malattia che lo ha afflitto da agosto 2023. Enzo, come era affettuosamente chiamato, se ne è andato prima di compiere 65 anni, mentre era ancora in servizio. La sua dedizione e passione per il lavoro erano ineguagliabili, e il suo contributo e la sua professionalità al DTT Divertor Tokamak Test facility e all'ENEA rimarranno indelebili. I colleghi lo ricordano come un professionista esemplare e un amico sincero, sempre pronto ad aiutare e a condividere la sua vasta conoscenza.

  • We are excited to announce the successful participation of DTT and ENEA researchers at the 33rd Symposium on Fusion Technology (SOFT) held in Dublin from September 22 to 27. The event was a hub for crucial discussions on fusion technology advancements. We are proud to have young scientists in DTT community as G. De Sano, M. Furno Palumbo, and the IVC team that won the second Poster Prize for their work on “Investigation of the Selective Laser Melting for its Application in the First Wall of the DTT Facility.” An innovation recognition was due to DTT scientists: A. Lampasi was among the top five candidates for the innovation prize. More than 30 Italian scientist (@DTT &@ENEA) participated and gave their precious contribution to the success of the event. DTT researchers presented more than 50 contributions among oral and poster presentations. Through the different contributions, the central role of this project in the global context of fusion was shown. DTT will be able to accompany not only the DEMO design choices but will be useful also in accompanying the start of the ITER operations We are incredibly proud of our talented young DTT researchers who are paving the way for future breakthroughs in fusion research and playing a crucial role for the implementation of fusion technologies for ITER, DEMO and for the fusion European roadmap.     𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆: 𝗡𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿-𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗧𝗧 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶. On August 5 Pietro Barabaschi -Director-General of ITER - visited the ENEA Research Center and the DTT site in Frascati. On the occasion, Barabaschi, who is also a member of the DTT Scientific Technical Committee, met the ENEA President Gilberto Dialuce and the DG Giorgio Graditi, and Francesco Romanelli – president of the DTT consortium. The discussions focused on the progress in the ITER and DTT construction and future collaborations on areas of common interest. During the discussion the Italian strategy in nuclear energy, particularly in fusion, was also presented. Barabaschi visited the most relevant technological facilities including the 14 MeV Frascati neutron Generator, the Hot Radial Pressing Laboratory, where significant research activity is carried out in support of ITER, and the Frascati Cold Coil Test Facility where the first DTT component, the magnet power supply, has been recently installed. https://lnkd.in/d7tqS_DT Visit at the Frascati Neutron Generator.
