🎙 Listen to #EMMA4EU Expert in Action 🎙 We're proud to share that our partner, Jelle Behagel, an associate professor at Wageningen University & Research (EMMA4EU partner), was invited to discuss the European Commission's proposal to delay for a year a law aimed at combating deforestation.This important legislation requires companies to demonstrate that their imported products, including timber, palm oil, and coffee, do not originate from deforested areas. Jelle's expertise in forest policy provides valuable insights into the implications of this delay. #EUDR Do you understand Dutch!? What can you expect from #EMMA4EU?  To access valuable resources and #EUDR insights 🔍 One of the #EMMA4EU main goals is to provide support for professionals and students to improve innovation skills in the field of Deforestation-free Supply Chains. How are we doing it? 🚨 The Training Needs Assessment (TNA) Report is now live! 🚨 We’re thrilled to share that the #EMMA4EU report, produced by our partner (Università degli Studi di Padova), is available for free download: the report presents the results of an online survey that identified knowledge, skills, and competence gaps among students and professionals involved in reducing deforestation risk in commodity supply chains and implementing the EU Deforestation-Free Products Regulation (#EUDR). How can we support the effective implementation of the #EUDR and address #deforestation? This can be achieved through innovative training, knowledge exchange, and the #EMMA4EU project, which was launched in 2023. Its mission? Fill the gaps in knowledge and skills necessary to comply with the EUDR. What does EMMA4EU mean? The acronym comes from the project’s full title: Innovation Alliance for Training Programmes for deforestation-free supply chains in Europe. This description holds together the project’s main goals and takes inspiration from the method EMMA, developed by the coordinating partner, Etifor | Valuing Nature. Would you like to learn more? How do we reverse the actual trend and stop deforestation? Sustainable supply chain management is a good starting point. In 2022, the European Union reached a pivotal agreement on the Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products #EUDR, a law designed to prevent companies from introducing, exporting and trading commodities associated with deforestation and forest degradation into or out of the EU market.
