    Meet Madeleine Konan Akissi, a cocoa producer and plantation owner from Côte d’Ivoire’s Kouentinfla region. Through our work with Fairtrade to support the cooperatives we have with our partner ECOOKIM, Madeleine has received ongoing support, training and agronomic cocoa production advice. Thanks to the programme, she has doubled the amount of cocoa she produces per hectare and has been able to use the money from her increased sales to improve the quality of life for her family.     Since its launch in 1964, Nutella has become one of the world’s most beloved products, famous for its authentic taste of hazelnuts and cocoa, and its unmistakable creaminess. 🍫 There's a lot of love for the Nutella spread we have today, but did you know that its ancestor dates as far back as 1946, when it was produced in loaves that could be cut into slices and sold wrapped in aluminum foil? Since then, we've just kept innovating. In the last 10 years alone, we've created Nutella B-ready, Nutella Biscuits and Nutella Frozen and Fresh Bakery ranges.     To us, traceability isn’t just a buzzword; it's a commitment to transparency that Ferrero continuously improves upon. Since the launch of our last Hazelnut Charter, we can proudly say that over 90% of our hazelnuts can be traced back to their farms. To achieve this, we’ve made it a point to engage with our suppliers to foster data management and reporting tools to better understand any challenges we may face. Together with our partner Ecookim and its co-operative members, we've helped over 37,000 farmers and the communities across the Côte d’Ivoire to: 🍫 Improve production through training and agronomic advice 🚜 Adopt sustainable farming practices 👩 Help empower women to create additional sources of income 📚 Focus on building schools and canteens to combat child labour We've taken the successes from this partnership and have made them a blueprint for our broader cocoa sustainability programme.     At the #WorldConfectioneryConference2024 in Brussels, Global President of Nutella, Thomas Chatenier, and Francesco Tramontin, Vice President of EU Institutional Relations and Group Public Policy, showcased how Nutella has remained iconic for 60 years through love, passion, and constant innovation. From global activations like "Nutella Loves Bread," "60 Years of Smiles," and World Nutella Day celebrations to exciting new products such as Nutella Croissant, Nutella Ice Cream, and the recent Nutella Plant-Based, we’re always finding fresh ways to surprise and delight fans around the world. Francesco also participated in a Q&A on sustainability alongside the Rainforest Alliance, Made In Africa, HRH Oba Doku Thompson, and Antonie Fountain, where he shared Ferrero and Nutella's ongoing global sustainability journeys.
