Last Friday, our colleague Giulia had the privilege of participating in a dynamic discussion during the “Making the transition” session at Transition Days hosted by Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. The two working tables focused on open innovation and the digital & sustainable transition, but converged on the critical role of collaboration between companies, startups, academia, and institutions in accelerating a sustainable development of the ecosystem . The conversation touched on two key aspects: 🔷Culture & Ecosystems: How businesses must shift from a product-centric mindset to a more holistic approach, where technology is integrated thoughtfully and sustainably. 🔷Open Innovation: Emphasizing the importance of cross-sector collaboration, it was clear that diverse voices - from entrepreneurs to public institutions - must be heard for inclusive change. An inspiring takeaway? Transitioning toward sustainability isn’t just about technology; it’s about creating a culture of ongoing learning and inclusivity, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. By fostering ecosystems that bring together various stakeholders, we can ensure that no one is left behind in the digital transition. At Forest Valley, we believe in the power of partnerships to build a sustainable future, and this event reaffirmed our commitment to this mission. What is the role of collaboration in advancing sustainable innovation, and who are the key players in the ecosystem driving it forward? Share your insights below!

Can waste be the key to a circular future? Here’s what our experts said… Last week, we hosted the second chapter of our ClimateTech Frontiers series, "Innovating for a Circular Future: Transformative Approaches in Waste Management." One big question took center stage: Can waste be transformed into a valuable resource, closing the loop for a truly circular economy? Here’s what our panel had to say: Natalia Marzia Gusmerotti (University of Rome Tor Vergata) explained how adopting circular economy principles could unlock the hidden value in waste streams and revolutionize global resource management. Francesco Pucci (ALIA SERVIZI AMBIENTALI SpA) revealed how smart bins and citizen data are reshaping how we think about waste – from something to discard to something we can use. Caterina Crippa (A2A) shared how their innovative recycling collaborations are turning textile waste into valuable materials. Christian Orecchia (Gruppo Marazzato) discussed the tough issue of hazardous waste, highlighting how they’re managing PFAS chemicals – a challenge, but one with potential solutions on the horizon. Tommaso Troiani (Byewaste) showcased how their door-to-door waste collection service is turning unwanted items into reusable products. Eugenio Riganti (Musthad) showed us how connecting businesses with sustainable solutions is changing the landscape of textile waste recycling. So, what’s the answer? Yes - waste, when managed innovatively, can absolutely become a key asset in building a sustainable, circular future. Thank you to our speakers and everyone who joined! If you missed it, don’t worry - there are many more events to come!
