Multidisciplinary art studio working with emerging technology to interpret the complexity of human and natural phenomena

Chi siamo

Mimesis is an immersive installation exploring the interaction between humanity and the environment, drawing inspiration from the evolution of life and human impact on the environment.  The installation gathers real-time environmental data from the location where it is exhibited, subsequently influencing a system that generates dynamically the piece's audiovisual elements. This continuous transformation, expressed through various environments and visual themes, creates a speculative vision of how our future environment might evolve.

The topic of dreams is so vast and fascinating that it was only a matter of time before we launched a new chapter of the Onirica () series, using a medium close to our hearts, but one we haven't explored for quite some time: the dynamism and intimacy of performance. The human body allows us to narrate from an intimate perspective, emphasising the physicality of dreaming and sleeping. Produced in collaboration with choreographer Diego Tortelli, this work fuses dance performance and cinematic experience, featuring visuals generated in real time through the interaction between the performer and artificial intelligence.  Onirica () marks our return to the stage after a seven-year break, and we can't wait to share it with you. Onirica () at Pozu Santa Bárbara is coming full circle. What we love about Onirica () is its versatility: each viewer can interpret it uniquely, influenced by their own sensibilities. The location also plays a significant role in shaping the experience. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to create a dialogue between our work and the venue, enriched by its history and significance for the local area. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the LEV Festival team for their passion and care, and for the warm hospitality we received during our visit to Asturias. Catch the show until the end of this week.

Trust is an immersive installation exploring the multiple meanings and implications of the concept of trust. The series breaks down trust analysing historical events' impact on society, while also speculating on how this relationship might evolve in the future. Broken down into three chapters (past, present and future), the experience is characterised by a succession of audiovisual atmospheres that evolve following the trend of trust over time. Trust blends innovative technologies with human experiences to foster empathy towards one another and society at large. Presented at ARTECHOUSE NY in 2022.

First exhibited in 2016, Amygdala analyses the tweets shared online by users and interprets them generating an ever-changing audiovisual installation. The work is based on a sentiment analysis algorithm, which allows to decode the emotional status of messages through information retrieval and computational linguistics. The algorithm categorizes emotions into six types—happiness, sadness, fear, anger, disgust, and amazement. Ultimately, each tweet is translated into a colour, referencing the strongest resulting emotion. During the time the work has been installed, Amygdala has analysed millions and millions of tweets. Evolving like a living organism, the work makes visible the flow of data and information constantly created by online users.

Ten years ago, Ljós premiered publicly, marking the first chapter of our performance trilogy including Dökk (2017) and the upcoming Sál (2025). It is really impressive to reflect on this decade-long journey. In these 10 years, the studio evolved significantly - also thanks to the resonance that Ljós and Dökk gained internationally - but at the same time, the force that drives our work everyday somehow remains unchanged. The technology may have evolved along the years, but the essence and soul of Ljós remain as resonant with us as they did a decade ago. As we develop the final chapter of the trilogy, this connection feels stronger than ever. Ljós premiered on June 10th, 2014 at Festival della Fiaba in Modena (IT), and later toured in 9 different countries. We thank all festivals and institutions that gave us the chance to share this piece with the world.

Onirica () touch ground at the Centro Cultural Pozu Santa Bárbara in Mieres (ES). This site has a very rich history: it was once one of the largest mining wells in Asturias. It closed in 1995 and reopened in 2021 as a centre for culture and the arts. We are thrilled to bring our work to such a storied location, adding a new layer of meaning to a place with over a century of history etched into its walls. The show, curated by L.E.V. Festival, includes the main installation of Onirica (), together with some exclusive elements such as prints and an interactive exploration of the dream banks at the basis of the work. Open until July 28th. Ph. Pozu Santa Bárbara - Elena de la Puente

More visualisations from our ongoing exploration of black holes: in this case, we rendered the plasma density around a black hole using data from MHD simulations processed by the BHAC tool. The initial plasma configuration is shaped as a Fishbone & Moncrief torus, and the colour of particles determines the plasma density. In order to read the snapshots generated by the simulation through AMRVAC (Adaptive Mesh Refinement - Versatile Advection Code, a specific code was written to load the values and density distribution in real-time into the particle system displayed.
