Last week we attended the third edition of Meet the Ecosystem, an event organised and hosted by VITA Accelerator. In the frame of Palazzo Innovazione in Salerno, this event brought together several players coming from Italian health & #lifesciences ecosystem to present innovative startups' projects, focusing on acceleration programs in digital healthcare. Our Account Manager Francesco Esposito showcased the background and capabilities of GDMH in the Digital Medicine scenario during a networking session with startups and stakeholders. This was a fruitful opportunity to share knowledge and exchange ideas looking to the future of healthcare, therefore, towards the innovation and digital transformation. Starting from her cultural background, she has gained a wide-range experience in business administration and organisation in several private companies. Defining herself as a multi-tasker person capable of effectively managing several tasks at once, the two assets Giorgia has always pivoted on are precision and punctuality. While the #AIAct has officially come into force in Europe, as we mentioned in last month's articles, the US perspective on AI regulations is still fragmented and variable, depending on state, federal or local level. Indeed, the majority of laws in the US targeting AI in healthcare are still in the proposal stage at both the Federal and State levels. This article from NEJM AI examines new approaches to Clinical Artificial Intelligence and the new challenges that would arise in the global medical field, since the existing regulatory assets suitable for earlier models of AI do not guarantee adequate safety standards for new technologies coming from #GenerativeArtificialIntelligence (GAI). Similar to the European Union countries over the EU AI Act, common guidelines on the implementation of AI in healthcare should be identified among all countries of the world, with the purpose of aligning on compliant guidelines that guarantee suitability and reliable quality standards for medical professionals and citizens. We present you a new paper from PubMed in which a Natural Language Processing (NLP) pipeline was developed for automatic extraction of therapies, diagnoses and symptoms from electronic records of people affected by chronic Lupus disease. This article aims to depict the state of the art of this system by looking at advanced techniques such as text segmentation and transformer-based topic analysis. As a worldwide provider of turn-key digital medicine solutions, we believe this new approach could revolutionise the integration of EHR systems, by reducing human intervention and providing personalised digital solutions for the treatment of #ChronicLupus.
