Even though 99.6% of our genome sequences are the same, there are slight differences in each person’s genome. These differences are called genomic variants. Out of the 6 billion letters in our genomes, each of us has around 4 to 5 million genomic variants! These variants could either be unique to us or show up in other people’s genomes as well. Researchers have recently completed a human pangenome reference sequence, representing more global diversity! Human populations from different ancestries have some of their own genomic variants. By having a larger reference genome that better represents different populations, researchers will be able to identify more genomic variants that can provide insights into health and disease to benefit all populations. GenoGra @ #WISH7 🇶🇦 Our Mirko Coggi and Alessandro Vingione have just come back from an amazing experience at World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) in Doha, Qatar. GenoGra was shortlisted for this event in October, and in the last few days, we had the opportunity to pitch for the first time in front of the Middle East audience. The theme of the event was "Humanizing Health: Conflict, Equity and Resilience", and we could showcase the commitment of GenoGra to reducing the ethical biases that still affect genome analysis. We could get in touch with many international health and medical technology experts and innovators, expanding GenoGra's network both in terms of partners and investors.
