The awards welcome submissions that: - Promote the Motorways of the Sea as a sustainable alternative to road transport. - Highlight the development of #tourism through maritime transport in the Mediterranean. - Showcase the positive impact of enlightened maritime businesses on the marine #ecosystem. 📅 Entries can be submitted between 20 September 2024 and 20 April 2025. The Grimaldi Group is proud to celebrate the successful conclusion of the XXVI Euromed Convention From Land to Sea, held from 11 to 13 October in Athens. The focus of this year’s edition was innovation as a key strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, in line with the European Climate Law. 🌱 In his opening speech at the summit, the Managing Director Emanuele Grimaldi highlighted the significant progress of the Grimaldi Group, including fleet expansion, investment in new ships, and integrated logistics services. With seven new ships delivered and 20 more under construction, the Group is setting new benchmarks in sustainability and innovation. 🚢 The event also featured keynote addresses from Christos Stylianides (Greek Minister of Shipping and Island Policy) and Paolo Cuculi (Italian Ambassador to Greece). The proceedings included two engaging panel discussions. The first panel, “Fostering and achieving innovation: a driving force towards net-zero emissions”, moderated by Guy Platten, Secretary General of ICS, included insights from Chris Bonett (Maltese Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works), Maja Bakran Marcich (Deputy Director General, Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, European Commission), Roel Hoenders (Head of Climate Action and Clean Air, Marine Environment Division – IMO Secretariat), Ugo Salerno (Chairman of RINA), Roger Holm (President of Wärtsilä Marine & Executive Vice President of Wärtsilä), and Dario Bocchetti (Head of Energy Saving, R&D and Ship Design, Grimaldi Group). 🌍 The second panel focused on “The role of the public and private sectors in enhancing port activities in the Euro-Mediterranean Region” and was moderated by George Xiradakis, Managing Director of XRTC. It included contributions from Minas Papadakis (CEO of the Port of Heraklion), Pino Musolino (Chairman of the North-Western ports of Italy), Andrea Annunziata (Chairman of the Central-Western ports of Italy), and Guido Grimaldi (Chairman of the Igoumenitsa Port Authority and President of ALIS). IL GRUPPO GRIMALDI POTENZIA I PROPRI COLLEGAMENTI TRA ITALIA E TURCHIA A partire dal 14 settembre, la compagnia impiegherà due navi ro-ro sul nuovo servizio regolare tra Trieste ed Ambarli (Istanbul), con due partenze a settimana da ciascun porto. Sul nuovo servizio saranno impiegate la Eco Mediterranea ed Eco Malta, le unità ro-ro più ecosostenibili al mondo. Queste navi ibride della innovativa classe “GG5G” sono in grado di dimezzare le emissioni di CO2 per unità di carico trasportata rispetto alla precedente generazione di navi ro-ro. Emissioni che sono addirittura azzerate durante le operazioni portuali: quando sono ferme in banchina, la Eco Mediterranea e la Eco Malta utilizzano l’energia elettrica immagazzinata da mega batterie al litio che si ricaricano durante la navigazione grazie agli shaft generator e a 350 m2 di pannelli solari presenti a bordo, raggiungendo così l’obiettivo “Zero Emission in Port®”. In circa 50 anni di presenza in Turchia, il Gruppo Grimaldi ha costantemente incrementato e potenziato le proprie linee dedicate al Paese, connettendo i suoi principali porti al resto del mondo attraverso il proprio ampio network globale. Oggi, con il nuovo collegamento diretto Trieste-Ambarli, il Gruppo Grimaldi risponde alla crescente richiesta di servizi di trasporto marittimo di elevata qualità tra Italia e Turchia da parte della propria clientela, in particolare di alcuni tra i principali produttori di automobili e veicoli industriali al mondo: tra questi ci sono BMW, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, DAF, Scania, Stellantis, Kia, Hyundai.  Di fatto, la nuova linea diretta tra Italia e Turchia rappresenta una soluzione di trasporto regolare ed affidabile tra due porti dalla posizione strategica: Trieste è una porta naturale non solo per il Nord-Est italiano ma per tutta l’Europa centrale, mentre Ambarli è un punto d’accesso privilegiato all’area di Istanbul e all’intero distretto economico della Turchia. Inoltre, con l’utilizzo combinato del nuovo servizio e di altri collegamenti marittimi del vasto network Grimaldi, le aziende turche possono esportare i loro prodotti anche verso Spagna, Grecia, Malta, Tunisia, Marocco ed i Paesi del Nord Europa che affacciano sul Mar Baltico.
