For the first time, four autonomous vehicles operated simultaneously on track and at close distance to each other, marking a significant milestone in autonomous racing. This is what happened at the last Indy Autonomous Challenge event at the CES25. Despite the limited top speed, it has been a unique experience to test our software stack in new scenarios during the testing phase before the official multi-car exhibition race. In this video, we included onboard footage with the outcome of our perception pipeline to demonstrate the ability to detect and track multiple running cars in real time. In particular, in the view on the right the red boxes represent the cars that we are tracking, as a result of the fusion of different detections generated by each sensor. Only cars detected reliably with more sensors are tracked in order to avoid false positives. Producing accurate tracking helps also the planning modules in always keeping the planned longitudinal safety distance depicted with the horizontal red line over our vehicle. A historic milestone for our team at the Indy Autonomous Challenge! At the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, during CES 2025, the first-ever fully autonomous multi-vehicle race took place. Four cars were on the track, breathtaking overtakes were made, and a victory was decided by mere tenths of a second: the Unimore Racing team, with HIPERT, claimed first place ahead of Cavalier Autonomous Racing. 🚦 An unprecedented event For the first time in motorsport history, four autonomous race cars completed an entire race featuring multiple overtakes and zero incidents. This event demonstrated that autonomous systems can handle extreme speeds and complex multi-agent interactions in real-time. It wasn’t just a race; it was a proving ground for the future.  Our team focused on maximizing data collection, testing strategies like the Push to Pass system, and ensuring every maneuver prioritized safety. The result? Clean and safe overtakes and a showcase of what AI-driven systems are capable of. Thanks to the testing conducted in the days leading up to the event, we validated new algorithms, refined our autonomous driving software, and gained invaluable experience for the future of autonomous racing. A big round of applause to PoliMOVE Autonomous Racing Team  and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology for their exceptional work, and congratulations to Cavalier Autonomous Racing for making the final thrilling right up to the last second.
