Chi siamo

🔬 New research from our Francesca Coscia (Group Leader, Structural Biology), the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca and Università degli Studi di Milano reveals key insights into thyroxine synthesis.   🦋 Researchers found that an acidic amino acid next to the hormonogenic tyrosine in thyroglobulin is essential for thyroxine production. This discovery sheds light on thyroid hormone biochemistry and could lead to improved treatments for hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. The study, published in The Journal of Biological Chemistry and featured on the February cover, highlights how small changes in protein structure impact hormone synthesis.
