🌾 In honour of Rural Women's Day, we invite you to renew your commitment to women's #LandRights in 3️⃣ simple steps. Are you with us? ⬇️ 1️⃣ REVIEW YOUR COMMITMENT Next year, we’ll celebrate Beijing+30, an unmissable opportunity to re-familiarize yourself with the commitments and galvanize action on women’s rights. 💪 In 1995, the World Conference on Women was a turning point that established the most comprehensive global policy framework on women's rights—a huge milestone for the movement. 📅 25 years later, ILC members and partners reaffirmed the centrality of land rights to women's rights, meeting the needs of millions of women around the world. 2️⃣ SHARE IT WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES AND PARTNERS! Different actors committed to different things. 📢 Do your part and help remind them of what they promised to implement—including yourselves! 3️⃣ BE PART OF THE CHANGE 🚀 Great progress has been made since Beijing, but there’s still work to be done to make women’s land rights a reality. Get ready for Beijing+30 by downloading this go-to guide! 📖 It's attached to this post! 🔗 ----- #RuralWomensDay #Beijing30 #WomensRights #GenderEquality #EmpowerWomen #SustainableFuture #BeTheChange #LandJustice #WomenInLeadership

🚿 Why did the fossil fuel company bring soap to New York Climate Week? ⬇ To greenwash its reputation! 😂 Caught your attention? Good. Because we didn't come to New York Climate Week with soap, we came with REAL #climatesolutions. 🌍 Tired of hearing FALSE climate solutions that make you feel like a wet cat caught in a thunderstorm? 🙀 Yep, us too. Share your favourite false solutions and, even better, drop the REAL ones in the comments! 👇 🚨If you've gotten this far, you -- like us -- are probably committed to solving the climate crisis. Fair assumption? 🚨 📢 This week, we're heading to #ClimateWeekNYC, ready to roll up our sleeves and dive into real, time-tested solutions. In celebration, we’ll be spotlighting real-world stories of climate solutions from our network of nearly 300 members spanning 84 countries, and representing over 70 million land users—from smallholder farmers to forest dwellers. 🌍 No need to book a trip to NY 🗽. We'll be sharing them with you right here on LinkedIn. All these stories have at least 1️⃣ thing in common. 👉 Can you guess? Okay, we'll lay it out for you. ⬇ Right now, too much land is controlled, managed and used by too few in ways which are unsustainable for the vast majority of people and the planet while flashy false solutions for a greener future are threatening the rights of those who live on and from the land. 📉 How much is too much land? 70% of the world’s agricultural land is controlled by just 1% of landowning corporations and individuals. These are often the same private interests pushing false, top-down climate solutions. 🤯 (For more information check out our report, "Uneven Ground": https://bit.ly/3XSccXG) 🌿 This post isn't about doom and gloom, however. It's about hope! 🌿 We know that #LandRights 🌱 for the communities who live on and from the land is one of the most powerful solutions to the climate crisis. That's because sustainable and equitable land governance increases the resilience and well-being of communities and ecosystems, respecting their rights and elevating their crucial role as protectors of nature. Raise your hand, if you like us, stand with the true guardians of our planet: 🚺 Women 👩🌾 Peasant and smallholder farmers, 🌾 Indigenous Peoples 🐄 Pastoralists 🌲 Forest dwellers 🏹 Hunter-gatherers 🌍 Afro-descendants & 🐟 Fisherfolk 💡 Want to see how land rights can be the key to climate solutions? How can you be an effective ally to Indigenous women? ⬇ 🌽 👩🌾 As custodians of Indigenous knowledge and guardians of ancestral lands and territories, Indigenous women are the link to the past and future. That future is in danger of being destroyed through the erasure of their ways of living and removal of all evidence of their existence. So, what can we do?! 👭We recently hosted a conversation called, "Indigenous Sisters: Remembering Together to Resist Together" at the #APFF4 organized by APWLD in Chiang Mai, Thailand which highlighted the importance of #indigenouswomen's memory work. These were our big takeaways:  🗺 Ultimately recognition of Indigenous women's contributions in land governance, management & restoration leads to #foodsecurity and #climatesolutions like sustainable use of natural resources. It is vital, therefore, that Indigenous women are recognized as living memorials and bearers of generational wisdom whose land rights must be protected if we are to ensure the future of the planet. Here are 5️⃣ ways you can ally with Indigenous women: 1️⃣ Help them get legal recognition of land rights. 2️⃣ Collaborate on documenting intergenerational Indigenous wisdom. 3️⃣ Help build legal & media literacy. 4️⃣ Build offline and online libraries of Indigenous knowledge & practices. 5️⃣ Enable meaningful participation in policy and #advocacy spaces & advocate collectively. 👉 Did we miss something? 🤔 Who are the perpetrators and beneficiaries of intersecting systems of oppression? At the recently held #AsiaPacificFeministForum hosted by APWLD in Chiang Mai, Thailand, we opened our session titled, "Decolonizing Emerging Technology: An Intersectional #Feminist Approach to Resisting Technology Facilitated Oppression" by asking the participants: *Is technology neutral?*   No. 🔎 Big Tech companies own big data. Big Media enables harmful patriarchal stereotypes & dominant narratives. The State often funds disinformation campaigns (particularly during elections) targeting critical voices and identities. 🚺 On the other hand, women #landrights defenders and environmental #activists are on the frontlines defending lands and territories from corporate capture. They are often caught in the crosshairs of dominant narratives spread by big tech, big media, and the state. ⚒ Online violence through doxxing aimed particularly at women enables offline violence. This ultimately leads to the self-censorship of critical voices online. 👉 What is needed to fight **Technology Facilitated Gender-Based Violence ( TFGBV)**? 1. More platform accountability 2. Adequate survivor-centric legislation 3. More support from the government in terms of preventive and remedial measures for TFGBV 4. Public education and awareness against TFGBV such as sextortion is required 5. Survivor-centric public policy and more policies to address TFGBV Anything you'd add?
