'ᴀʀʀɪᴠᴇᴅᴇʀᴄɪ' ꜰʀᴏᴍ ᴋɪɴᴏ ɪᴛᴀʟʏ With mixed feelings, we're announcing a significant transition: Kino Italy as we know it is coming to an end. 👩💻🇮🇹 Since starting, our mission has been to enrich local communities and promote #innovation and #cultural exchanges through the power of #remotework. We wanted to make Italy a prime destination for #remoteworkers and #digitalnomads, starting from #villages and beautiful #rural areas. The journey has been incredible, with notable achievements but also daunting challenges. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 🌎 64 participants from 17 countries discovered Italy's lesser-known locales. 📆 On average, stays lasted 24 days, embracing a slower pace of life. 👵🏻 We engaged over 100 locals in events, workshops, and gatherings. 💰 Generated over €150k for local economies, beyond participation costs. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 🛠️ Necessary infrastructure and service improvements exceeded our startup's capacity. 🤝 Creating sustainable ecosystems needed more time and local involvement than we could manage. 💸 Limited resources and operational burdens were significant for our small team. 💭 Realising KINO Italy had evolved into a travel service diverged from our original vision, skills and personal ambitions. 𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘸𝘦'𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 2024 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘴. The value of our mission, echoed by our community and collaborators, remains clear to us, and we're exploring new ways to support our mission and the remote work ecosystem in Italy. We are beyond grateful to our partners, community, and supporters. This isn't goodbye, but an 'arrivederci', hoping this pivot marks the beginning of something new. 𝐵𝓊𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝐹𝑒𝓈𝓉𝑒 𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎𝑜𝓃𝑒! 2023 it's coming to a close, what a year it's been! We're so grateful for our community, partners, and the meaningful connections we've nurtured over the year. At KINO Italy, we are only at the start of our journey and none of these could have been possible without many of you supporting us! A heartfelt thank you to our partners and everyone who joined us in championing remote work as a tool for positive impact. And a huge 'GRAZIE' to all our community members. We would't be here if it wasn't for you! As we step into 2024, we're excited to continue on our mission to make Italy a remote work friendly country. We will go back to some of our favourite places, continue improving the experience for our community. And we will also explore new destinations (anyone said Sicily?!). This week we returned to Ostuni to participate in the event 'Ostuni: A Welcoming Community for Digital Nomads.' The objective of the event was to share with the local community and industry professionals the work undertaken by Kino Italy and Wonderful Italy to attract #digitalnomads and #remoteworkers to the 'white city' and the associated opportunities. In just a few months, we have developed an offering that brought over 30 participants from the Kino Italy community to Ostuni outside of peak seasons. This serves as a significant signal to local service providers and local administrators about the possibilities associated with a new category of 'worker & traveler'. Our remote work experience in Pitigliano is coming to an end. 🥲 Yesterday we shared a special moment with the major and other local community representatives, talking about our time in the village, what we loved about it and what our remote workers would love to find if they come back. We also heard from the locals on why they supported our project and what they hope to achieve through welcoming more remote workers in the future. A moment of #sharing and #reflections that makes us hopeful and excited about next year! ᴠɪᴠᴀ ʟᴀ ɴᴏɴɴᴀ! 👵🏻🍝 Long live Italian grandmas! 🇮🇹 Nonna is Italian for grandma - the matriarch, guardian of traditional family recipes, the glue that keeps everyone together . . . Making Pasta with the Nonnas is one of our signature activities in Ostuni, and last Friday it was so special to end our work week with this fun bunch of ladies. It was a very genuine experience that took place in the space of a local association where these lovely nonnas meet everyday. Everyone was there because they wanted to be. And while we were super excited about learning to make handmade pasta with Italian grandmas, the nonnas also took joy in sharing their craft, eating, dancing and celebrating together. 🥳 An alternative Friday evening for our remote workers, but for sure one to remember! Our first week of #remotework in Ostuni is officially complete. 🙌 We had a little bit of everything: From time and space to focus on deep work, to plenty of opportunities to share food, drinks and good time together. 🥳 Most of us have been very proactive in shaping and contributing to the experience so we ended up engaging in some really fun activities: 🎾 A Padel match with a highly spirited local trainer ⚽️ Walking around the beautiful baroque town of Lecce, where most of us also attended a wild game Napoli vs Lecce 🍷Wine tasting on the grounds of a beautiful local winery 🧘♂️Morning yoga session 🏖 A Sunday spent by the beach to fully recharge So grateful to our community members for all the energy and good vibes. ⚡️ Today we reviewed our 'Week 2' plans and we can't wait for the week ahead! #remotework #digitalnomads #community #workandtravel #workfromanywhere #weareinpuglia #smartworking #southworking #italy
