#Emscherland: A story of green and blue transformation   Back in 2015, we developed a feasibility study for the Emscherland 2020 horticultural show in partnership with Emschergenossenschaft / Lippeverband , Stadt Castrop-Rauxel, Stadt Herne, Stadt Herten and Stadt Recklinghausen. 🌿 Proposing over 18km of blue and green infrastructure for this area around the Emscher River, the vision aimed at establishing a new understanding of urbanity centered on the #connectivity and ties between city, landscape and water. By repurposing dismissed industrial areas and reconnecting the River with surrounding brownfields, new ways of experiencing the region’s change and development were created.   🛤 Part of the wider project was #AktivLinearPark, a former railway line turned into an elongated park of 1,5 km, with paths for pedestrians and bikes seamlessly connecting Herten and Recklinghausen along the Hoheward slag heap with the trail network from Zeche Ewald to the Emscher Cycle Path, all the way over the Emscher to the city of Herne. 🚵♀️While working as a #green connector between areas which were once mining cities of the Ruhr coal industry, the park, realized through European funding, now offers a variety of playgrounds, sports facilities and infotables on its biodiversity, ecosystems and the history of this place.    An important contribution paving the way for the International Garden Show IGA Metropole Ruhr 2027 gGmbH , it thoroughly manifests our mission of #ReconnectingPeopleWithNature.   #LANDscapes #LANDGermany #GreenAttitude #LandscapeRegeneration #GreenRuhr #SustainableMobility Andreas Kipar Jens Hoffmann Julian Altmann Roxanne Ingmanns

From Essen to Milan, our Nature Positive Cities are removing impermeable surfaces to combat heat islands, reduce flooding, and promote #biodiversity. Mentre i cantieri dei primi edifici di West Gate continuano a salire, il mese di Luglio a MIND Milano Innovation District ha visto il completamento di alcuni importanti processi urbanistici. Il progetto diventa sempre più concreto e si apre agli investitori, anche internazionali. 🔥 L’approvazione del secondo grande gruppo di Stralci Funzionali di West Gate, e la firma della relativa Convenzione Urbanistica Attuativa, abilitano la realizzazione di totali ca 200K sqm di edificazione, tra cui anche il primo studentato di MIND, che sarà realizzato da REAM SGR SpA. Inoltre, con la chiusura della Conferenza dei Servizi sulle Opere di Urbanizzazione di West Gate, si darà il via alla trasformazione di Viale Decumano in un grande boulevard verde, e alla realizzazione di ca 100K sqm di nuovi spazi aperti, con cantieri previsti in partenza a fine anno. These elements are crucial in developing sustainable and innovative public spaces, aimed at boosting urban resilience and enriching the green landscape. Some examples: 🌿Digitally fabricated vertical food farm by Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia: Co-designed with local communities and built with digital fabrication techniques, this vertical #garden not only creates complex shapes but also supports the growth of food and medical plants. 🏡Ground-based green façade by LAND: A green #façade of self-climbing vines and supportive base plants, this design integrates seamlessly with urban structures, promoting green coverage and ecological benefits. 🏞Wild meadows by LAND: Natural #meadows requiring no irrigation and low-maintenance techniques; these natural meadows foster local grass and herb species to improve biodiversity and climate resilience. 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟖 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞 To mark our 8th anniversary and enjoy some time together before summer, our Swiss team gathered in Zürich. We began the day with a visit to Grün Stadt Zürich, a division of the city's administration, responsible for the construction, maintenance, and upkeep of all urban green spaces. 🌱 We strolled through the sunny and shaded spots of this vibrant city, observing best practices in #SpongeCities and urban #biodiversity. To conclude the day, we stopped by Drees & Sommer Switzerland to exchange visions and ideas for further development in Switzerland and its surroundings. A big thank you to everyone who made this day possible.
